Re: Maverick - 100 Hennepin Avenue S
Cool! Never been to a Starbucks Reserve, curious to try that out. Also, to me, I would think that those two tenants would be flipped. 2nd and Hennepin is a lot more tied into the neighborhood. My guess is they want the visibility from traffic coming into downtown via the Hennepin Ave Bridge, plus I...

Re: Maverick - 100 Hennepin Avenue S
My wife and I had been looking at this as possible place to move to, according to one of the reps the retail on 1st & Hennepin will feature a Starbucks Reserve that serves beer/wine, the other open spot on 2nd & Hennepin will be a dentist's office.

Re: MSP Airport
Orlando and Vegas are both served by a lot of terrible low cost airlines (including weekly seasonal direct service form small Minnesota markets), so I can see why Southwest wouldn't want to waste their time and money getting beat up on those routes. I still really wish we could get the Houston or D...

Re: MSP Airport
Heard a rumor that this new service will be on Virgin America not Alaska. I was under the impression they were consolidating under the Alaska brand, right? So maybe it would start on Virgin, but it would be on Alaska pretty soon. Alaska has said they won't make any official decisions until early 20...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
50th & France is able to accommodate parking for all its shoppers with 2-3 large public ramps mostly hidden from plain sight, along with plentiful street parking, and that seems to work pretty well. Can something similar apply in NL? Does anyone know how the 50th & France ramps are managed?...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Serious question: Something I really like about the North Loop right now is that most of the streets are two lane two way streets. Few turn lanes, few stoplights (mostly 4-way stops), and generally calm enough traffic levels that crossing streets mid block is pretty straightforward. How would more ...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
I think there is an emerging problem with the parking situation as more businesses are opening up in this area. People are willing to pay for parking, to a certain extent. I know that Matt will say that if the street meters charged $10/hour, there would be plenty of parking around, but that's reall...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
West Elm probably. That lot between Azine and 1st? I think that North Loop is going to try and be one of those "busy on every street" neighborhoods. Instead of the usual commercial corridor that we're used to, it's going to be more of an overlay. Yup, that's the one. One of the workers sa...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
On the surface lot across from Aria on 1st Street there is a drilling machine set up. The worker said he was drilling for core samples for an underground garage that would be for a new hotel on that site. Has anyone heard about this? Seems like an odd location for a hotel considering the availabilit...

As I'm reading it a 2 story retail building would be placed here, seems like a 3 story would fit in better and help make the argument to tear down the Arrow building. These 3 just so it's clear to everyone

Re: West Elm Hotel
West Elm? A North Loop pal tells me that a developer has gobbled up a good portion of the block that's also shared by the former Theater de la Jeune Lune (I forget what it's called now). It's the part of the block that stretches from JetSet to the Foundry. They're preserving the old buildings, demo...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
A fast football field means that players are more agile, they're able to cute/change directions faster. Typical straight line speeds aren't really affected as much. As for the ball, it would affect punts that aren't caught, they'd bounce & roll further.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Just what we need, another bargain bin for the riff raff downtown. Why can't we get some nice stores for a change? I guess we should start calling it Nicollet Outlet Mall. This!!! Another outlet store downtown is annoying. I can absolutely only speak for myself here but I am sure many people, they ...
