Re: Foundry Mixed-Use Development - 115-125 1st St N, 128 2nd St N, 128 1st Av N
Any news on this? I drive by daily and have been wondering why nothing is happening....decided to look here and found this thread. Such a shame. So is the street just going to stay half blocked till someone is able to pull together a new project?

Re: 200 Central (2019) - 293' / 27 Stories
That's definitely the location, but I'm thinking it's something that was proposed more recently than that. I do remember it involving hotel space. Maybe my memory is failing me, or maybe it went the same way as this proposal...nowhere.

Re: 200 Central (2019) - 293' / 27 Stories
Maybe my memory is off? I remember something proposed basically for the large surface parking lot behind the Labor Center....I even remember discussing it with someone who works in that building. Seems like just a couple years ago, but was probably before the pandemic. I've just been Googling and ca...

Re: 200 Central (2019) - 293' / 27 Stories
Wasn't there a proposal for a hotel just SE of the United Labor Center, directly across University Ave SE from the parking ramp? What happened to that project?

Re: 200 Central (2019) - 293' / 27 Stories
I keep thinking it would have been nice to have had this built while the bridge was closed. Now the bridge will open and they'll end up blocking 1/2 of Central during construction for more than a year. The site did give them a good staging area for the bridge work though.

Re: 420 East Hennepin
It appears that construction from now on up will be wood construction? I thought buildings over a certain height (5 stories?) had to be concrete. Is it allowed that the top stories are allowed to be wood even if the overall project exceeds that height?

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics
Does anyone know if the Costco Business Center will have a gas station? Drove by there yesterday and was surprised by the amount of dirt being pushed around. More than I would have expected for a simple parking lot repaving. Are they burying tanks? Would love to have a Costco Gas station close by. ...

They are dismantling the billboard on top of the current building at this site today. Seems like demolition may be imminent.

Pretty sure this isn't hydroseed....other materials dropped off and a line of cars and trucks parked on the newly fenced off site. The grass that was growing wasn't beautiful but was sufficient to stop erosion.

Something's going on at the site. Dirt and gravel have been spread over the lot. Is construction imminent?

Re: Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics
It hasn't been 10 years. I've lived in the area for just over 9 and remember it being Panera Bread Company in there for at least a couple of years before New Bohemia.Has it been TEN years already!?!? Wow.ten year lease is up and probably didn't generate enough revenue to resign.

The white portions of the building look a bit dirty to me already....I'm wondering how the surfaces will age over time. It's not horrible looking, but nowhere near as attractive as the Nord Haus tower. I've nicknamed it the "Tetris Tower."

Did we have record of the Ramada along 35W and Industrial becoming a "Delta Hotels | Marriott" hotel? Yikes how many marquees does one company need? http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-210589.pdf The blue towers (actual paint job, not the concep...

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics
http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2016/03/17/costco-northeast-minneapolis-store.html Apparently CostCo bought a warehouse at 3311 Broadway St. NE on Sept 1st. Say it could fit a CostCo store, which would honestly be great if they could re-use an older industrial building instead of buildin...

Re: White Castle and Holiday at Central & Hennepin
I asked a WC employee today...the most recent they have heard is July. I assume they’ll tear the old Holiday down first and remove gas tanks, etc. Does the new White Castle overlap the old one? Or will they be able to build the new restaurant first then close and remove the old one afterwards? Sent...

Re: White Castle and Holiday at Central & Hennepin
Stopped today for gas. I live close by but always avoided the old station. I’ll be back here! Let’s move ahead and get the new restaurant built! Not a huge WC fan, but will be nice to have this all done!

Nord Haus - 315 1st Ave NE (208' - 20 Stories)
Don't people have shades on their windows? Shades, yes, but they aren't solid blackout shades. More of a black mesh that allows views outside when closed on a sunny day. Also allows the blue/white lights from NordHaus into my bedroom at night. The billboard at 4th and Central can be annoying too if...

Some friends that live in the Cobalt building were complaining about the lights, I gave them an "ahhh ummm yeahhh sucks..." while thinking in my head, Looks great! I live in the Cobalt (but don't think I'm your friend)....I'm not overjoyed with the lights. I agree they look nice as a buil...

Re: 200 Central - Alatus Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site) 483' / 40 Stories
I'm pretty sure that they took about 4-5 swipes at the building to "start demolition" but have done nothing since. Just a statement to say they won and are moving forward. That was exactly my feeling. Now no one can claim the building needs to be saved. In fact, they may be ordered to com...
