Not that it really matters. But it'll be nice to have the crane up before the Super Bowl. Give visitors and cameras the impression that we're a city going somewhere.

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements
I wonder if some sort of roundabout would work on Washington Ave N? Maybe at 6th or 3rd Ave? There just don't seem to be many good options for improving pedestrian safety for busy roads like this. I guess there is some evidence out there at roundabouts help. I live near E. Lake and Hiawatha and it s...

Re: Milwaukee
It's interesting if you look at the population growth since 2000 for Minneapolis compared to Milwaukee. Milwaukee has had a slight declined, although it's recovered somewhat. Versus Minneapolis which has increased decently. It's interesting how differing cities are seeing, or not seeing growth.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
Just cap the 94 with the stadium and put 10 million dollar bridge on either side over St. Anthony and Concordia and throw a bus rapid transit line on 94 with a station at the stadium. Then current location for a edible orchard/food forest to offset the stadium's carbon footprint. Maybe throw in a co...

Re: Portland Tower - 516 S. 8th St.
It would help if there were some green space nearby. That is one thing that makes areas near the river desirable. This building is among a sea of parking lots and other buildings. Be nice if the oft spoken about Thrivent block ended up with some green space to connect the area between the commons an...

Re: Portland Tower - 516 S. 8th St.
The location isn't the best, but will be better once the construction across the street ends. The brewery and etc. that is being built might also be an asset for the property. Otherwise, I honestly think the building is ugly and oddly placed on the edge of the commercial district.

Eventually, the potential streetcars may have an impact on the bus traffic. I'm not sure if it would be positive or negative however. I would also hope we'll at least have reduced express bus service reduced due to the SWLRT

It would be nice to get something a little more noteworthy here than all the other similar looking buildings in the neighborhood.

I can't get back into the Star Tribune article, but if you copy and paste into Google the name of the report the whole thing shows up. It's basically guidelines and wishful thinking. We'll see if it has an impact on Thrivent and others. My guess is that Thrivent may be quite a ways into plans for th...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I think they are tracking them given that Nice Ride provides that fun animated map showing where all the bikes going around the cities. I once tried telling a couple from Europe that they should move their bikes 50 feet so they don't get charged extra while they dined. Well...that failed partially d...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
If you do a quick Google Search there are plenty of articles about the success of biking sharing in China. I think a dockless system might work in Minneapolis. The Nice Ride bikes are already tracked so you could do the same with a dockless system. Also Downtown where bike sharing is popular has the...

Maybe for the time being they could partner with the neighborhood association and others and make a park or etc. with the lot? Throw in some temporary art, plantings and seating. Given that they have interest in other properties in the area a better looking/functioning site here would be to their be...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I found this in the second link, "McGuire would then have Irgens or other developers work with him to redevelop the property. That development might be a slower process than many of the Midway neighbors would like as current tenants in the shopping center have many long-term leases that are leg...
