Re: Former Dayton's Building

Hopefully they do something with the building. Walking through it on the skyway level it smells and feels like an attic. Given it's location on the mall and the caliber it still holds in Downtown Minneapolis I'm sure they'll use it for something.

Midway however isn't North Loop...unless that's indeed where the area is heading?

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

I drove past on Sunday. I may lack imagination. but it seemed depressing to see a stadium going up between a strip mall and a highway. That intersection just isn't that desirable or exciting.

I think that's when they were building all the apartments across from the Guthrie. I noticed that you can see the new Nicollet tower going up in that photo. Given that this lot is filled, a new complex will be going up across the street and Ryan might actually their building going atop the ramp acro...

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation

I'm not talking about building their own building, just being a tenant in a private building which would be less government not more. They could use their needs to vacate their own properties and sell the land for tax-generating uses and become a tenant in a private development that may include othe...

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation

Interesting food for thought. What if the city canceled this project and consolidated their offices into a new perhaps notable office tower? Maybe another one of those proposals where the office, hotel, apartments etc. are stacked could be launched? As far as getting a tower that is actually impress...

Does anyone know what exactly they're doing with the paneling on the stadium? Are they conducting some sort of long-term fix for the leaks or just a repair until they figure out where the engineers went wrong? They've taken off a significant amount of paneling at 3 places that I've noticed.

For some reason they took apart the boom of the crane and put it back together this weekend. I thought first it was the Moxy crane going up, then I thought they were taking down this crane. But when biking in this morning I saw that it was put back together.

Re: Hi-Lake and Minnehaha Mall Area (Target, Cub, etc.)

On Friday the Store Manager saw me trying to find a place to lock my bicycle and told me that they're just redoing the exterior and that it's part of a 10 year project. I'm not sure if they're at the beginning or the end of it to be honest. He also said there have some temporary bike racks up soon a...

Re: Galtier Plaza

I hope the city starts to take some more responsibility for their downtown. You would think the city and business leaders could get some sort of ambassadors/security to keep an eye on the skyways. The author of the letter made some good points and I hope the city leadership is paying attention. We n...

Re: St. Croix River Crossing

I'm wondering if the bicycle crossing will be open? I'm guessing it'll take them some time to complete and open the new bicycle loop. I'm also unsure if they're going to start work on the Lift bridge right away and close to bicycles and pedestrians.

I presume they'll have to raise the crane? It seems like they will have to do that for the Hub at the U of M, but that crane is in the middle of the building so I don't understand how they will raise it. I guess I'm curious about the construction techniques.

I have to say I find this project to be much more well designed than the Legacy Project across the river. Both have a lot of massing, but this one is more effective at breaking it up. I'm afraid Legacy lacks the semi-elegance of this project.

Be nice is they hung some artwork off of the bottom or etc. Even some sort of lights to take your eyes off of the bottom of the bridge. I've always loved looking up in the building.

I'll be in favor of it. Especially if it was on bikes above $1,000 given that many of these bikes are luxuries and that I won't want it to raise the cost for lower-income populations. I'll also be in favor of some sort of voluntary program where you pay in and become a yearly member and get a specia...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

We might want to focus for now on getting an elevated bikeway across the Mississippi to extend the Greenway to St. Paul. Honestly, I don't really see the benefits of having it here given that we have the Grand Rounds and rail trails. You would want a really dense area with limited free land. Althoug...

Re: Ritz Residences - 365 Nicollet Mall (334' - 30 stories)

Found the below excerpt in the main packet sent to the city. It appears we'll have to wait until phase II for the skyway connection to the library. I'm curious, if they were to get things moving quickly with phase II could they use the same crane? "The site has been identified as a key redevelo...
