Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Although different markets and food genres, if I were them I would go look at Cossetta's in St Paul. They have three different businesses in the same building and did a good job at differentiating entrances and where each is located and signage. I understand the Nicollet Diner probably has a smaller...

Re: Dismantling Downtown Freeways

They should put that money aside as an down payment for tearing down the aqueduct. You could also simply close it as a test. Right now I doubt we'll see much impact.

Re: Future Cars: Electric and Autonomous Vehicles

I would love for a Twin Cities community to take advantage of this local company to show the potential for the vehicles. Anyone on here have great ideas for implementation? "The commercial segment of Polaris Inc. has been making electric low-speed vehicles in its GEM business for years. Now the Medi...

Re: Hiawatha-Lake - Minnehaha - Downtown Longfellow

Kind of along these lines, but something else I thought of last time going through Minnehaha and Lake is that you could make an argument for having a more substantial George Floyd memorial here, and doing something more modest at 38th and Chicago. Obviously there are a lot of emotions involved and ...

Ichiban across from the Hyatt? It sees like such a large space for the Diner.

Re: Hiawatha-Lake - Minnehaha - Downtown Longfellow

The Wendy's / AutoZone area is disappointing, but totally understandable, to be rebuilt just as they were given the circumstances of their demolition. But these low-intensity uses are still better than the barren sea of Target's outer parking lot right at the corner, which never has any cars in it ...

Re: Hiawatha-Lake - Minnehaha - Downtown Longfellow

Raising Canes is hoping to take over the old Arby’s spot at Hiawatha and Lake. Too bad there might be another drive thru right next to a transit station. Hopefully the city can find a way to block this. https://thedevelopmenttracker.com/mpls/news/raising-canes-to-open-third-minneapolis-location?fbc...

"A mile-long wall separating freight and light-rail trains on the Southwest light rail route will cost nearly $93 million — a 356% increase over what was initially budgeted four years ago."

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

I just watched SWLRT flyover again. The distance and number of bridges is outstanding. Why couldn't they just elevate this straight through the Northside bottlenecks and somehow not make it hideous? Also this would fix the safety and border wall aspects of this project. An LRT line/border wall divid...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

Is there a way this park could include some minor wetlands or filtration system the creek before whatever flow goes through the old tunnel makes it to the river? Seems like anything that cleans water and stores water is valuable due to climate change. There is also a lot of concrete/asphalt in this ...

Re: Rochester

I also think they need better connections to the Cities since we do have a big research industry, an entertainment industry and Corporate HQ. I wonder if there would be a way to do a BRT?..or just let private companies do their thing? We could always go back to the Zip Rail plans we abandoned when ...

Re: Rochester

Rochester should try to woo a college or larger UMN campus to help its vitality (maybe they did/are trying?). But I think it's mostly just a company town stuck in its old ways and the huge upper-middle class populations and good tax revenues paper over the massive car dependency and sprawl despite ...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

Sounds like the Park Board might not do anything with it for awhile. It would be nice if somehow they would allow the local neighborhood association to put in a few benches and some planters or something. Oh...this park may end up with the most dogs visiting it of any park in the city haha.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Personally, I would like to see some leadership from the City and our elected officials on creating a new, stronger, post-covid Downtown. Lisa Goodman did a tour of the Dayton Building a couple months ago and in the video you can see that she has extensive knowledge of the projects and it's needs an...

Re: 21 North Washington - 27 stories ~300'

I'm not a height stickler, but no, absolutely not, you are not allowed to finish a building 9" short of a big round number like 300'.
I agree, I mean with 9" they could duct tape something to the top. Seems like they could put in some simple architecture element to increase it by that height.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

It's a waste to subsidize something which doesn't need subsidies. Bicycle infrastructure in locations which don't have everything we have would be a much more effective use of tax dollars. Does the e-bike industry even have any excess capacity?

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I hope it fails, it's a waste of money and our national debt is too high. The costs of these bicycles is decreasing anyhow. So why should taxpayers borrow money to subsidize something people are going to use anyhow? I don't know that demand for these bicycles is elastic enough and that the benefits ...
