Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

I live near the C Line and I can tell you that part of the reason ridership is down is crime. There have been shootings at both of the intersection we have stations. If you don't believe me go see the leftover police line tap floating in the breeze with the BRT station feet away. I've personally rid...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Would be interesting to see how much transit use increased to the Mall of America and MSP Airport after the Blue Line opened. I expect transit use to North Memorial would increase with the Blue Line Extension, but by how much is an unknown. As for crime, like Tcmetro said, a train isn't going to ma...

I feel that Stillwater and Anoka are offended by Chanhassen being chosen over them. Haha.

Folks can view their Sample Ballots or go out and actually vote. When I looked at my ballot, I got this feeling that if there is abundant backlash against the Council Question One may likely pass piggy backing on the momentum of voting against question 2.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

In all honestly I only see one or two or no people at the current bus stop here. I'm betting most people get there via 81 and highway 100 and that if the LRT is competitive time wise folks will just keep driving. I don't live far away and this side of Mpls and Robbinsdale GV, etc is served well by 1...

Looking at the details for this proposal and thinking about other Cubs, if they own the land beneath their stores, they have a lot of valuable real estate throughout the cities. Be great to see them fill more of the lots as folks shift to pickup and delivery.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

1) I run up and down Victory Memorial Parkway almost everyday past here. I don't like the third bridge over the parkway. They're replacing the other three currently. It's becoming a concrete jungle on a parkway which is one of the nicest things North has. 2) I also don't like how the station only se...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Just do a trackless tram. It wouldn't require as much space as LRT which is the main issue in North and the imaginary issue in Robbinsdale. (Be cool to the U of M test the driverless ones on the Transitway.)

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Wow!

"City Council Member George Selman, another longtime light-rail supporter, was more blunt.

"Bill pressed the red button. I'm pounding on it," he said. "It's not going to go on Bottineau Boulevard if there's anything I can do to stop it.""

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

So what so-called "negative externalities" are there about people not getting into their cars and driving to work? I'd think people would be happy we're reducing the need for downtown parking and highways and air pollution. Maybe we could convert the Multifoods tower to apartments and ease the hous...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I bet the property values would go up nearby if you closed. Be a fun study for someone to do. Shut it down, tear it out between Minnehaha and E49th st to extend the park and remove the 62 ramps and the causeway when it needs to be replaced. There are a number of routes people can get to Richfiled vi...

I agree, we should market ourselves as a running destination for tourist. Day 1, Riverfront run with lunch at Waterworks and play at the Guthrie, Day II River and Minnehaha Falls with lunch at Sea Salt. Day III Theo Wirth Trail running with time at The Trailhead for food and some MTB cross training....

Re: Minneapolis Population / Density - General Discussion

What did you observe in PA and NJ to make you think that? I'm a runner, but the biggest things was the parks and our infrastructure. I realized why we rank so high in parks and how glad I am to be near the Grand Rounds and to be able to run around our lakes and the river. I also thought our infrast...

Honestly, I'm just glad to see it's getting built. I used to go to the Post Office on Bloomington Ave all the time and I can tell you these neighborhood's depend on these Postal Offices. Sometimes we have to recognize the function and need of building and put aside our differences about it's design....

My understanding is that this is a change in name only -- no new employees, etc. The article states that since opening in Eden Prairie in 2016 they now have a headcount of 100 folks. The article states there wouldn't be any job lost in Iowa. They will likely see growth in Eden Prairie over time.

Re: Minneapolis Population / Density - General Discussion

I think our global warming problem is going to ultimately force people out of the south. I spent 4 days in Phoenix at 110-115 degrees per day and 90 at night. It was brutal. Even on our harshest MN winter days....you can always bundle up and get through it. This was unbearable. Plus......they are g...
