Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

I was surprised to find out the Park Board owned this isthmus in Golden Valley. I got some blow back last time I recommended they sell land outside of the city and stand by my view that properties that are distant from the city borders and aren't serving residents should be sold. This piece of land ...

This building is exciting. It's from Rise Modular, and looks nicer than the standard formula of what is built here.

Re: Northside - News & General Topics

The strip mall here burned out a couple years ago. They're going to reopen and take the lot next door for parking and put some greenspace in front. There will be a tobacco shop, cell phone store and barber shop. Not the most exciting thing, but it's not a burned out building and is investment. This ...

Re: Ideas / Wish List for Mpls in 2021

I want to see something done with Highway 55/Olson in North. If I had a magical wand I would cut the road is half and only use the EB or WB half's and add a dedicated lane for BRT and then return the rest of the road to the community. If you look at a map, this would be a lot of real estate and retu...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics

Also, a home officer or computer room is kind of mandatory nowadays and none of these houses were designed with that in mind. Unless you want to shove the computer in a nook or cranny in the living room or down in the basement or something the home office swallows up a bedroom, meaning you only hav...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics

I could see people leaving Brooklyn Center and inner-ring suburbs with their small homes while some neighborhoods in North Minneapolis regain white people due to their location to Downtown and amenities and quality homes. (especially areas like Harrison) Also I have friends who live in Brooklyn Park...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I used to bike through here all the time and there was no traffic. The article states 4,000 adt which seems really low to justify a $25 million investment. Foley is parallel to 610 and both E. River Road and Coon Rapids Blvd have access to 610 and given the lack of local destinations there just isn'...

This might all go up in flames literally in the next few days. Hopefully not. What a gross comment. As someone who lives in the Northside and has contacted friends today about patrolling W. Broadway tonight, because we don't want to see it go up in flames...this is the truth. We can't afford more e...

They won't tear it down...with the renovation and need for concert space.. (I don't think Mpls has another venue of comparable size??)
I say hold onto it and have a planned closure in 20 years or so. This location could produce some tax dollars.

Although different markets and food genres, if I were them I would go look at Cossetta's in St Paul. They have three different businesses in the same building and did a good job at differentiating entrances and where each is located and signage. I understand the Nicollet Diner probably has a smaller...

They should put that money aside as an down payment for tearing down the aqueduct. You could also simply close it as a test. Right now I doubt we'll see much impact.

Re: Hiawatha-Lake - Minnehaha - Downtown Longfellow

Kind of along these lines, but something else I thought of last time going through Minnehaha and Lake is that you could make an argument for having a more substantial George Floyd memorial here, and doing something more modest at 38th and Chicago. Obviously there are a lot of emotions involved and ...

Re: Hiawatha-Lake - Minnehaha - Downtown Longfellow

The Wendy's / AutoZone area is disappointing, but totally understandable, to be rebuilt just as they were given the circumstances of their demolition. But these low-intensity uses are still better than the barren sea of Target's outer parking lot right at the corner, which never has any cars in it ...
