Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
So does this mean Blue Line trains will fly past the stops in between MOA and U.S. Bank Stadium, or will they crawl through the stations and then get back up to speed? Would be cool to see what an express Blue Line service would look like. Due to federal regulations I believe they must make safety ...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Does this confirm that the LRT will be closed to everyone else? Or will other stations be open? (I don't see how you could run these express trains at the same time.) My guess is that they'll supplement bus service for 'regular' riders along both lines, allowing Game Day pass holders to get the VIP...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I'd say we should circumvent the issue by building Nicollet/Central as aBRT. If it is a streetcar, though, I agree that colors are the way to go for rail lines, even if the streetcar operates more like aBRT than LRT or hBRT. I have talked to the Manager of aBRT at Metro Transit, and they aren't rul...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I did contact them, and if they go with a streetcar vehicle it will be apart of the METRO system and assigned a color. I think that's right for this line but would not be appropriate for the as-conceived Nicollet streetcar. That should probably get a letter designation. I see it two ways though. 1)...

There was a public engagement event last night, more than 100 people, sounds like more support than not.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
If we can call things like the A Line and the C Line "rapid transit" with only limited rapid transit features (only limited stops, off-board ticketing, and some signal priority) can we start calling this a "rapid streetcar"? I did contact them, and if they go with a streetcar ve...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
Does anyone know the timeline for first half of the project, and how about the second half that completes and replaces like the Mcdonalds and Perkins?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I 100% agree! This is why people hate government.
Look, I love old retaining walls, foundations and historic artifacts. But we built a freaking FREEWAY over this area. It lost its historic value a long, long time ago.

Feds have weighed in on the wall, looks like a mitigation plan will be put in affect to prevent disturbing the area as much as they can.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
I believe they are installing a bunch of design elements this month.Besides the bus shelters being installed, are there a bunch of decorative elements missing? I biked down most of the mall yesterday and has been mentioned before it seemed extremely bare.

Re: C Line - Arterial Rapid Bus & Penn Ave Community Works Project
I am assuming so!I take it that the other buses on 8th St (5, 9, 19, 22) will also be rerouted to 6th St during construction?Due to construction on 8th St in downtown in 2019, the C Line will run on 6th until 8th St is completed.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I'll just note that in my experience reading papers and blogs, the Transit Cost Penalty in America vs other nations is much higher than the road cost penalty. There are some things that are shared/similar (e.g. other nations who are better at tunneling, which is rarer for roads). But the requiremen...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Also during the day of the Superbowl, both trains will only be for riders who buy LRT tickets through the NFL supposedly. And there will be bus bridges for both lines. This is all done due to the security zone, and how close the train runs next to stadium.

You are correct, they did the wiring for the two new cross overs that were installed for this summer.^My bad. For some reason I though that one was already there and was just replaced.

But also single tracking would probably move frequency to like every 20 minutes.Based on Saint Louis MetroLink's Facebook posts, it looks like they do alot of single tracking, instead of closing stations.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Does anyone have experience with similar LRT or streetcar systems in other cities? Is this amount of shutdown time common or an anomaly? The only other experience I've had with LRT/tram shutdown is in Oslo where a station was closed for a few months. I am not, but I believe that the 11 day shutdown...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Math Time! I was bored and did the math around the number of LRT shutdowns so far in 2017, including the one night closure tomorrow. 651 hours of LRT shutdown Which is about 27 days or 7.4% of the year, the 11 day shutdown accounts for a majority of this year. Hopefully there won't be as many in the...
