Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

SWLRT pushing back its opening date, now 2024 at least, due to construction issues (somehow they are still discovering new soil problems on the chosen alignment). There were some other clues that the schedule might be pushed back, now we've got confirmation. I read the official press release, and i...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)

Looks like I spoke too soon about the 442X trips. They've been added back to the schedules, restoring Cedar Ave service to ten trips per hour. https://www.mvta.com/news/mvta-launching-additional-local-service-dec-5/ What a waste of tax dollars and resources, I emailed them expressing my distaste in...

Every now and then I see one of these about the Rush Line. And they are usually White Bear Lake residents.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

That's a good question. I would imagine the two would just jointly run on the ~1 mile of shared routing. The reason I say that I think it will come back into discussion is that it was basically the runner-up to the rail corridor in the last EIS process. It would be a natural consideration. Addition...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Not to bring up 3A/3C again (lol), I think that with respect to the Midtown Greenway/Nicollet alternative of the SWLRT, a lot of the stakeholders preferred the Kenilworth routing. I think having a tunnel on Broadway would be the most ideal choice, but I feel like it's likely that the Olson-Penn opt...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Great news as I know where was talk in August when everything fully broke down of this possibly better serving the north side. Well maybe BFSN had the cities best interests all along! Mostly kidding. From a story in august on this"Golden Valley Mayor Shep Harris, who led the charge to keep negotiat...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Would it be safe to assume then this would serve more of north Minneapolis? If so thats a huge win for the city and its north side residents.
It definitely seems to be the case!

Updated Draft Alignment Principles, did say with certain alignments certain cities could not be served(I'm assuming they are referring to Golden Valley)

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)

Ridership and cost/revenue statistics have been provided for route types at the agency level for some time now, typically bundled in Met Council annual reports. I believe route level data is now also available for the opt-outs in a regional report that is published annually as well. The politics be...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

What's the point of the X and Y departing at the same time as each other? Why wouldn't you space them out?
Because they only care about sticking it to Metro Transit and Met Council.... and not actually providing quality service for their customers.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

MVTA is launching a couple new local routes in Burnsville, Apple Valley, and Eagan. Route 442 is being extended to the Mall of America and will basically be a duplicate of the Red Line. The new services begin tomorrow. Seems like a very expensive way of sticking it to Metro Transit and the Met Coun...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

I'm probably just out of the loop on this, but anyone know why Nicollet and Central are being considered as separate aBRT projects and not a single corridor like they were back when streetcar was supposed to be happening? It's definitely because of the streetcar, look at the justification in the po...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Anyone else find the location of City West Station odd? I biked over there yesterday and the only people I can see benefiting from this are park & riders and workers at Optum who can use the train for their commute (which is probably a small number of the overall workforce). I realize it's too late...

Re: Former West Publishing / County Jail development site

We just moved back downtown and this project is horrifying. Not only does it block the river view, it also doesn't add affordable housing (important for disabled people who need to live close to accessible amenities!). Good thing Gov. Walz turned down the $40M bonding request. https://www.twincitie...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

The connecting bus study is being revisited, after being postponed earlier this year. Meetings and public hearings likely to be scheduled in February (up for approval at Monday's Transportation Committee meeting). The scope of the bus study has been significantly reduced. It is more specific to dev...
