Yes, the city council approved it last week.Where do you see that it was approved? I saw a couple weeks ago that the variance request for the drop off frontage was denied by the planning commission. Did it get through on appeal?

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
2032If they're going use TIF, they should at least try to get an Olive Garden or something over there--when the train opens in 2032 I will definitely take it out to the mall once for fun and it looks like Applebee's is currently the best suburban chain option they've got.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Not long ago the park & ride at 35W & 98th Street Station (or as I prefer to call it by its original name South Bloomington Transit Center) was bursting at the seams except maybe Fridays. 10 years ago I said they should build a parking ramp there, and thank goodness nobody listened. Too bad...

Shush, lolThey can, if it's a road project!... but I'm glad that this will show that transit projects can be built on time and under budget.

Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)
Metro Transit has now updated the project page to set a March 22, 2025 opening date for the Gold Line. Idk if they're going to be working weekends this summer or what. The Met Council made a post today on Facebook, it is 41% complete, advancing on time and under budget. It must be a heavy construct...

Re: North Loop Green - 350/360 N 5th St - 35 stories - 393'/418'
Found a leasing website for the apartment tower, called North Loop Green 360: https://nlg360.com/ Even for the North Loop, their prices are far too high. When I can get a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom down one block for $2011 a month, and their lowest 2 bedroom is $3350, no wonder why they still have so man...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Didn't read the whole article because I know how much KSTP loves to hate light rail, so the gist is there was a hiccup in which recently installed light rail track in the Kenilworth Corridor was one foot too close to the parallel freight track. https://kstp.com/5-investigates/new-problem-uncovered-...

Re: Uber/Lyft
Obviously anecdotal, but my Lyft driver last night ranted about the city council decision. He claimed it’s a vocal minority of drivers and that he makes significantly more than $15 hour and presented his pay stubs at a council meeting. He did also complain about some Uber and Lyft policies that mad...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
Is it true that regular buses can't use the BRT bus stops? I regularly get off the bus by Pappy's at WBA and Maryland, and that would be problematic. Also, do cars really stay out of the side-running lanes? The way I've seen cars barrel down the shared turn lane on Maryland makes me think people wo...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Anyone know where I can find more info on the rerouting of the #64: "Routing will temporarily change to 7th St. due to 6th St. construction." The PDF map they give doesn't show where the stops will be or give any details on timing. It was a last minute change, let me see if we can get sto...

Re: Discontinued Bus Routes
While checking out the light rail construction in the Opus area I drove by a sign that I'm guessing was used by bus drivers for navigating (wouldn't be surprised considering how much of a confusing mess the road system is in that area). There wasn't a good and safe spot for me to take a picture so ...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
I'm a bit out of the loop on this project... is a White Bear Lake terminus completely out of the cards now? If so, that's disappointing. It would have been cool to get one of the further-flung streetcar suburbs reconnected to the transit network :( They will get local bus service from Maplewood Mal...

Route 23 will return to 38th Street between Portland Ave and Bloomington Avenue starting March 16, 2023. https://www.metrotransit.org/quarterly-service-changes-begin-saturday-march-16 I don't see any plans about the D Line or Route 5. It's because 40 foot buses can fit through the intersection curr...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Agreed on the shorter track segments! I really think that the Midtown Greenway is the next logical step for a light rail extension after the SWLRT and Bottineau extensions. They shouldn't have nearly as difficult of a time with securing ROW and the county has left space in the trench for a light ra...
