Even on Sunday after the opening festivities, there were a good number of folks out trying out the line for the first time. I was working at Rice Park Station helping folks, and lots of enthusiastic people!

It's not all good news though. Sherman wants it, in part, because they would take advantage of it to rehab and reuse the Wells Fargo operations center instead of moving forward on the Harmonia development.

If they have to do something in the suburbs, Excelsior out to Hopkins would be nice, but combining it with the 23 rather than going downtown seems weird. There are a lot of apartments and destinations along Excelsior and the surrounding land is mostly on a grid and infillable. I was taking the 612 ...

Note that it passed the Republican-controlled Transportation Finance and Policy committee on a party-line vote, not the actual (tied) House.
Yeah this most likely will die in committee now, since the house will be tied again on Monday. Committees will be equal Democrats and Republicans, and any ...

Re: Metro Transit Network Now Plan
Maybe I'm just missing it, but is there anything in there that defines what the different time periods mean? I'm assuming PM Rush still goes until 6:30, and evening starts then, but where's the transition to Night? 10pm? A few routes mention "late night" service, does that imply service past ...

Re: Transit Crime
I hope someday once again the train will be safe enough for me to take my kids on a ride. They'd love it. I used transit all the time in the Before [2020] Times, and a few times since. At this point I'm not comfortable taking my family on the train.
As one who rides both the Blue and Green ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
A transit station tied in to the Lindau pedestrian overpass would have been the obvious choice, but I don't think MoA is/was very interested in prioritizing transit. I think they prefer it to be tucked away out of sight.
Well I have seen recently that MOA is using transit access as an enticing ...

Well the Orange Line did 1600 to 2000 daily average rides on weekdays in 2024. I'm going to take a guess of 1750 weekday average rides.Nick wrote: February 19th, 2025, 2:32 pm It might be fun to take bets on what Gold Line ridership will be.

As far as I'm aware, the FFGA from the FTA specifies that the Gold Line will run 10 mins most of the day, so Metro Transit has to abide by that or the FTA will ask for their funding back.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I think there is some marginal benefit to using the SWT "brand" instead of MetroTransit. There are some folks in EP who will ride SWT because they view it as a "premium" service, who would not feel the same about MT, even if everything about the service were identical. It may not be a huge ...
