Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Maybe I just don't know, but this seems like a very quick turnaround for adding extra service. This route started on 6/12. Is this a sign that it's successful already? Honestly, I didn't expect local bus to Woodbury to be a success. It’s more the issue of those who live along McKnight and London Ln...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

That rail yard house just west of Loring and east of the baseball fields would be an awesome station for people going to the park or a baseball game on those fields. I know not the purpose of transit but a nice greenway linking them into one combination park/green space along with a metro station s...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Starting June 26th, 2021:

Metro Transit is adding service to the 323 between 11pm - 1am due to customer requests. So all 63s should have a connection now to connect with the 323.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Two things I want to know: 1) Are they really keeping the name 21st Street Station? I'm pretty sure I said this already but I think it deserves repeating since it would be a lost opportunity with the name Kenwood Station. Fun fact: The original owner of the railroad ROW, the Minneapolis & St. Louis...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Any idea when the Blue Line might go back to normal schedule? It's still running 15-minute headways in the morning, and doesn't increase frequency to 10-minute headways until around 10am, which it maintains through PM rush hour. Keeping 15-minute headways during the AM rush hour is a frustrating ch...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Here's a long drone video of SWLRT construction, which takes you from the Minneapolis border almost all the way to downtown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqew3ihqtLU I think it makes one thing clear, which is that there is a lot more work to do. Agree, but they skipped over all the royalston/far...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

The mayor of Robbinsdale mentioned during the Corridor Management Committee meeting today that he doesn't think the current city council will vote to give municipal consent to the Blue Line Extension. They want to re-engage BNSF and put the alignment back in the rail corridor so the train doesn't "...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

I took the 410 today just for fun and unfortunately but not surprisingly I was the only rider for the entire trip from MoA to Mystic Lake. The bus stop at Valley Fair is actually a small concrete pad they just built and it's located right by the Valley Park Drive & 101 intersection, and it's over a...

Looks like they were downgraded? FTA rating for Blue Line light rail extension 'under review https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2021/06/01/fta-rating-blue-line-extension-under-review.html (Paywall) Not really a downgrade according to the article, just a status change since the route alignm...

https://metrocouncil.org/Council-Meetings/Committees/Transportation-Accessibility-Advisory-Committee/2021/TAAC-Meeting-6-02-21/Shared-Mobility-Program-2021.aspx Looks like Metro Transit is looking to start a MicroTransit pilot in North Minneapolis to connect people to certain C Line stations and Rou...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

I think you're right on that, but Metro Transit probably screwed the pooch by taking over operations from MVTA (for reasons still unclear to me). No takebacksies, as they say. IMO the Red Line should have been branded as the "Blue Line link" bus from day one, making it clear that it was never meant...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

I wish they would have done more for south Minneapolis. A stop at Franklin or 38th would have been nice or even increased frequency on route 46. I think the Orange line could have been better. Before Covid happened the 46 was part of the upgrades, it got cut unfortunately. At one point there were t...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

We really need the 542 to extend into EP to SWS. It’s only a matter of time before the LRT starts operating in their zone, and MT already operates in MVTA’s zone. We need to move to a regional outlook on these things. Fine, keep the opt outs, but the opt outs need to cooperate with MT. Sent from my ...
