Plenty of pictures up now. Someone else will have to do the image gallery upload, I'm not on here enough to know how.

Re: Vikings Stadium
i love soccer too but enthusiasts have been saying for 30 years that in time it will become extremely popular. in the U.S. it's a niche sport at the professional level, like hockey. nothing wrong with that. and it's interesting we are builing this hulking new stadium at a time when soccer has moved...

Re: Vikings Stadium
More news, this time regarding soccer. The Vikings are ensuring that the stadium will accommodate professional/international soccer. And once the stadium development process advances a bit, they promise to explore investment in an MLS team. They've indicated this in the past, but it's nice to hear ...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
There are no more plans for LRT. After Southwest and Bottineau get built, that's it. If the lines aren't on a Met Council map by now they aren't happening for a long time. We will actually just have 2 light rail lines in the Twin Cities, since Southwest is an extension of the Green Line (Central Co...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
I wasn't kidding about the commute convenience of the 6 or 17 during my downtown work days. Man, after riding buses in LA, Saigon, and the Bay Area for extended periods of my work and college life, Metro Transit is nice, really nice. 20 minutes from Lake Street to Block E, that's pretty phenomenal ...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
As it stands now, the 6 & 17 are quite efficient, as well as the 5. I've never, ever wondered why these buses don't run faster. You've made some good points, but this statement is puzzling. Are you even remotely serious or am I that bad at reading sarcasm on the internet? 20+ minutes between La...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
As to some of your points, I think you overstate the difficulty of transfers to other transit lines, in this case the only one I can think of is the Northstar Commuter line, if I'm not mistaken . That's because that's the only one that exists. So why are spending $80m here? Which brings me to my ne...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
Also, someone, presumably from Mpls, finds the hub worthless due to the non-bus factor. He forgot to calculate Central Corridor's upside and the inevitability of the Southwest Corridor. Being called a "terd brain" invokes a strange jumble of emotions. On the one hand, it's always a bummer...

The images from the article are nice to see! Helps lay everything out for the brain to wrap around the use of space. http://www.planetizen.com/files/The-Interchange_Cascade-Section_Courtesy-EE&K-Knuston-Construction-1.jpg http://www.planetizen.com/files/The-Interchange_Key-Places_Courtesy-EE&am...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Both designs are a departure from the retro or semi-modern designs of the past 5 years, which I like. But as far as aesthetic competition, I think the Farmer's Field proposal in LA looks better than either preliminary design. Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
While industrial decay was certainly a factor, the more overarching culprit was urban renewal. While the westernmost portion of the Boom Island suburban subdivision was industrial land, the eastern through Marshall were typical Northeast - a mix of commercial, single- and multi-family residences. Y...

Nashville
Since Mpls has recently made progress with riverfront development, thought I'd share where Nashville wants to go. http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashville/a-thriving-riverfront-a-more-active-populace-a-symbol-of-progressive-design-and-urban-planning-this-could-be-your-city/Content?oid=3020264#.UFt7Yz...

Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
Since we aren't discussing Archive condos anymore... Kind of an odd statement. The area off Marshall and 8th was reclaimed industrial land (Wilcox window sash factory and BF Nelson). Then there was the 1982 tornado that cleaned out some areas of upper NE, hence new houses. I wouldn't say its rare i...

Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
I agree with some of you, this commercial-residential section, Nicollet Island East Bank (triangle shape), has some decent historic stock & blocks to fill, but Lord has there ever been some horrible high rise development in this neighborhood. Also, it doesn't help that St. Anthony East & Wes...

Re: Mill & Main - (501 Main Street Southeast)
The advertising video for this was horrible, just awful & really white bred suburban - the wrong kind of invasion & succession. The music was soft porn techno, or something along those lines. My God, my God!

Re: Underpass Park in Toronto: why not Mpls?
This idea will be discussed in the next Northloop Z&P meeting Thanks so much for posting this. What an awesome coincidence. I swear I'm not some board member leaking info or gauging interest. I think North Loop is incredibly underdeveloped as well as parcels around the Farmer's Market and the C...

Re: Northloop Park
My God is this a joke? Did you see my thread: "Underpass Park in Toronto: why not Minneapolis"? I had no idea they were actually thinking about this because I usually expect Mpls to take an extra 3-5 years to figure things out : ). I was simply in North Loop over the weekend donating stuff...
