Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar
I honestly think the public might be more supportive of aBRT if it was called anything but aBRT. ...anything? hmm... All aboard the new "Rubber Train" Honk Honk! I kinda agree. Our METRO system has a nice name kinda should have a new name for it kinda play off of Metro.. say.. TRANSIT TRO...

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
Arena's more than anything need to be downtown near the hotels, bars, and restaurants. Downtown's are also usually in the center of a metro area. Normally I tend to agree with stadiums belonging in downtown areas but you've got a transit connected site absolutely stuffed to the gills with hotels, b...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
So, one of the holdups with the Borealis launch was that Amtrak was demanding exclusive rights to operate passenger trains through Union Depot, which Ramsey County was not willing to grant, because the coalition pushing for rail service to Eau Claire is apparently pushing to have it run by a non-Am...

Re: Nicollet 301 - 20 stories - 241'
Say 300-400sq. ft. with rents around 800-900. You'll never see rents that cheap, and it doesn't matter how small you make the apartment. When you shrink from a 2br down to a micro-studio, you're just getting rid of the cheap space (bedrooms and living space, painted sheetrock) but keeping all of th...

Re: Nicollet 301 - 20 stories - 241'
I'll say it! Micro studio apartments that are under 1,000 bucks. Say 300-400sq. ft. with rents around 800-900. That's the problem with having the people in fancy suits design these projects. They only build things they would think be successful, such as "luxury" apartments that are overpri...

New Northstar Study has dropped. https://www.dot.state.mn.us/passengerrail/northstar/index.html 2036-2038 implementation is absolute BS Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Most seem to suggest a 2040 in-service date. That's just a short 16 years from now! I'm confident our train-riding president Joe...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
If I was King I'd just run trains from EP to West lake LRT service as an express route then a bus bridge from West lake to downtown via Lake St & Hennepin Ave. Also would extend Greenline Officially to Farmers Market, and Penn Stations. Until the tunnel was ready ..but I'm not so I can't... sorry?

Here’s How to Get Your Very Own Boulevard Bike Rack wow, that's really interesting and awesome. I would never had thought they would just let people build their own bike parking spaces like that. I definitely would have built two one for me and one for my neighbors. Don't we have some bike activist...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
The Red Line 147th St Station received 7 million in the Transportation Omnibus bill to build a skyway between the northbound and southbound platforms. All I can think of is what a waste of 7 million dollars. Yes, a complete waste! However, hypothetically speaking.. If there was by chance a redevelo...

Here is a quote from Minneapolis's Vision Zero Action Plan. "Due to a variety of factors, Minneapolis Police stopped fewer than 3,000 people in 2021 for moving or equipment violations—compared to about 16,000 traffic stops in 2019 and about 90,000 traffic stops in 2012" If traffic laws ar...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
I'm happy for the dan patch gag order being lifted, but still think ziprail has a snowball's chance in hell of happing (at least the true HSR 220mph proposal) regardless unless they can extend it to Chicago. Ya the 220 mph proposal will likely never happen. But for a new greenfield corridor somethi...

What is the expected service, like hourly or once every 2 hours during the daytime? It can’t be as infrequent as the Northstar line with only just a few trips a day right? What are the projected ridership is it accurate or unrealistic? Just wondering if anyone here has fact based opinion as to if th...

Wait so the terminus might be in fact a Park and Ride? ...it's beginning to look a lot like Red Line . Somewhere living in the downtowns area is a parking lot fanatic who doesn't drive. he or she is surely the most happy fan of our METRO network. We build all of our lines terminating in big beautifu...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I'll attempt to rank the possible alternatives to the tunnel, in terms of cost-benefit ratio. Hindsight being 20/20, I'd maybe have gone with: 1. Put everything at grade and call the bluff of Minneapolis (Hodges administration, c. 2014-15) to deny municipal consent. In this scenario, Met Council / ...

https://racketmn.com/no-nice-ride-bike-share-program-minneapolis-this-year-lyft/ Well this is truly a shame. Nice Ride (and well as Car2Go) was a service that made NOT owning a car superior.
