Re: Cemeteries
I took a cemetery tour in Savannah, and the guide said something striking, that they won't build cemeteries like this anymore ie. with the fancy stone monuments, because of maintenance costs. They want all the markings to be flat so they can ride a lawnmower over the entire surface.

Good time to buy a condo?
Somebody from my gym is going to buy a condo... I was wondering if its a good time It seems like a bad time because lots of new condo units are coming online and it seems like this will depress the price, so the longer you wait the better, but on the other hand a lot of people want to move into the ...

Re: What wrong with our parks?
Do you think "The Commons" -- the park in front of the Vikings stadium will get much day-to-day (non-event) use? Its sort of nice, but the location is a big weird, you would need to choose that park over the river.

Savannah
The weather's got me dreaming about moving to somewhere warm, partially because I want to live my life 'in the street' with street life (like the Spanish / Italians) instead of being holed up indoors. Savannah looks like its got a nice street grid and some good urbanism (and a lot of pretty building...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I was just thinking how the Blake Station will be so close to the car-oriented Knollwood mall area. I wonder what efforts if any would be taken to make Knollwood more pedestrian friendly from the Blake Station

Re: Condo Rental Caps: Economics and Equity
Hello, This is my first StreetsMN post. I’m on the board of a large downtown condo that is considering a rental cap. (A rule that limits the percentage of units that may be rented) This seems like a bad idea. It is anti-renter and I think it will hurt property value. What do people think? Has anyon...

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting
Not sure if this is relevant to the discussion, but eventually Elon Musk's StarLink will be a way to circumvent Comcast. He claimed 25 ms latency which is 50x improvement over the standard 1300 ms (I think this number comes from Iridium, not sure).

Re: What wrong with our parks?
Question: Would a Sea Salt like cafe in Loring Park be successful? I think that would be an improvement if it has lots of outside seating, the parents drink coffee and the kids run around. My dream for loring park is something like DuPont Circle in Washington DC. Fountain in the middle on pavement ...

Re: What wrong with our parks?
Como is very nice it slipped my mind, and Mears is a great suggestion, maybe I'll take the lightrail down there just to check it out.
When I look at the map I'm dismayed that such prime real estate is used up by golf courses MeadowBrook and Interlachen.

What wrong with our parks?
Well I think I figured it out, lets see if you agree... I've noticed that our definition of park is basically empty space with a (largely unused) baseball field. But then I went to Google Street View Paris, and it lets you walk around their parks, and they have trees in an interesting arrangement (b...
