Re: Xcel Energy Center
a lot of it has to do with the back of house infrastructure not being compatible with modern events. Target center got a nice face lift but apparently the back of house is in really rough shape and I assume the same for the Xcel

Re: Stadium Village
As someone who has been in dinnaken its not the best or worst. A perfect example is a lot of the walls even on the inside are made of painted concrete block. Great for sound dampening, really unwelcoming in a design sense.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Disappointing for the workers who demonstrated that companies could be far more efficient focusing on outcomes versus making sure people were sitting in an arbitrary spot for arbitrary reasons, and I will laugh in the face of anyone who thinks this will have any effect towards repairing Target's ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Thanks for that, I am still confused by what is even included in the phase 1 and 2 constructions. An entire new bus garage with underground parking only cost $150 million.
But yea instead we are going to spend millions to rip out all the infrastructure from the BNSF right of way.
All this is fun ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
could someone explain to me why they think it would cost $500 million to extend the train to St. Cloud? When the service was put in place the main issue was the rail line was not double tracked. Looking at google maps it now is so where would all this money be spent?

Re: Transit Crime
I like how they are rolling out more TRIP agents but the fact that we don't have them at the major stations at a desk or something and occasionally doing laps to report issues is crazy. Seems like a simple fix that many other agencies have figured out.

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
sounds like metro transit will remove all the infrastructure in the BNSF right of way if the train is stopped.
Also sounds like the service will be stopped

shocked on my way in this morning but it looks like they are going to be installing a curb to protect the bike lane on Hennepin down to the basilica. now they just need to extend it across the river and we will have an awesome bike connection across downtown
Re: Hopkins
From the sounds of it on the MWCD website the stormwater management part of the project will start construction this year. Sounds like this area contains the last 3 projects of a 15 year plan to help re-meander the creek and prevent toxic run off from making its way into the creek. On their website ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
This year with the temperature swings has caused the most rail breaks in one season apparently. The plan is to fix the west half up to Raymond excluding DT MPLS over the last weekend in May and the East half into STP in Mid July.
Rail shut downs are coordinated half a year or more in advance ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Wild, Metro transit can't even operate buses to Big lake and Elk River. So the farthest they will go is Ramsey Station and they are saying that it will take 15 minutes longer from Ramsey. Sounds from the survey that they will try to set up some other route to just serve big lake and elk river then ...

don't know how you would do it but i would love to see a city wide map with all these plans overlaid on it so we could see how the network is coming together over the next several years.

Sounds similar to the on they built in Milwaukee 3rd street market. It was a really good vibe when I was there and had a lot to welcome more families with play areas and games

Permits from the city call it a coffee cafe. But it is owned by Umbra Arts and they look like they set up an art gallery/gift shop in there.

Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar
I feel like we need to break out what the cost of a road rebuild alone will be. This needs to be done either way and I can only imagine it is at least 30% of the cost of this project. This is a similar length to the gold line with massively less bus only infrastructure and they are saying it is ...

Metro Transit is sponsoring "Royale" the premium subscription for the Transit App. Sounds like they are actually using the survey data that the app collects on vehicle and stop cleanliness which is awesome to hear
