Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I have been watching the construction on this bridge and screaming to myself that they should just be doing all the work for blue line so its good to see someone else thinking ahead

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Also went by the bike path between Hiawatha and Nokomis the other day. I didn't realize their planned infrastructure upgrades were actually happening. The path is already moved and the piers are poured for the new bridge across the creek.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
love the comments, the bridal veil pkway and trail are actually shown as a tunnel in alt 2. Because of that i feel like that just wouldn't provide as comfortable of an experience as a trail bridge

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor - General Topics
Man that is so sad, it is insane that anyone ever view on street painted lanes as acceptable in a winter climate. But I suppose people didn't think people would bike in the winter. As this is my first winter riding its amazingly reliving to get to a separated bike path. As someone who is confident ...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor - General Topics
I'd saw the last one was 54th street in southwest minneapolis in 2018. so disappointing to ride that road with parking spots that are never used and a painted bike lane that disappears in the winter

Re: UrbanMSP Patreon live - please consider supporting
you should set up yearly contribution options too. I think you would get less credit card/processing fees doing that.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
You sorta described the better bus routes program which honestly could also be sped up. I think an understated upgrade that ABRT brings for faster service is Transit Signal Priority. To do that you have to upgrade signals along the route which are controlled by the city or county. Also there is a ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Unfortunately it really comes down to the fact that these projects tend to cross several cities and county infrastructure. Because of that the coordination on funding and planning is frustratingly complex. I agree that we should be shortening public comment periods but when you need to get approvals ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I think the hard part is that cities and counties are wanting to line up whole road reconstruction efforts so that creates rigid timeline to follow those projects.
Also interesting to see that they are starting a process to review existing lines for potential updates

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Seeing as this is a conversation between drivers I would almost lean towards it being "2 routes" in driver only. Since they bid their routes it would make sense that one driver could bid just the extension and one the existing green line. still would be a one seat ride for the passengers but a ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Don't know if this is new news but Metro Transit plans on identifying 3 new corridors for BRT in 2025. Fingers crossed the 18/nicollet ave makes the list first.

Construction is 80% complete. Track install has started in the Kenilworth tunnel and they are saying they that train testing could begin in late 2025.
