Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
Just got back from europe and the most interesting thing I saw was almost every store with self check out, even Ikea, had one way gates to come into the store and then gates that required you to scan your receipt to get out. Also one of the store actually activated a random "spot check" wh...

Re: Copenhagen
I was just in copenhagen this past week and their metro is magical. It is a fully automated system with frequency of like every 6 minutes, and the best part is its 24/7 due to it being automated. The stations were remarkably clean and you even got full cell signal anywhere underground. Also fun that...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I love the signage I really think its huge and the more we remind people its there the better. I wonder if they will add any signage on the freeways or streets indicating park and rides. as for bike storage I know metro transit has some of their bike lockers but i also found this bikelink. Looks lik...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I biked this from Opus all the way back to lake street station yesterday and I have to agree. The level of development and planning that has gone in around the stations is impressive. I was really liking the wayfinding signs, I really feel like signage is something that can always be improved and he...

Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)
Interesting little takeaways I didn't consider before is one of the reasons LRT is much more expensive is that there's not many construction firms who specialize in building out LRT where for better or worse I'm sure there's serval dozen companies in the state alone who have been fine tunning road ...

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
looking at the design plans and property lines it looks like EP owns the road along side Emmerson. Im wondering if they want to eventually build the street between singletree and technology drive There was also supposed to be a sidewalk connection at the end of the cul de sac toward the bowlero that...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Anyone know why the sidewalk on the north side of the new 21st bridge looks like it's about 30 feet wide, plus a painted median? I'm all for comfortable sidewalks, but this looks a little, uh, generous for the context. Couldn't we save a lot of money with a more narrow bridge? Im wondering/assuming...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
holy wow looks like they have done a lot of good work in minneapolis to improve the pedestrian and bike environment. It even looks like they got rid of on street parking along N washington Ave. I hope they finish it off by including a good landscape design with lots of trees. Main thing I saw was th...

looks like the 25' comes from a federal railway workplace safety. Anything under 25 feet gets put into a different category for worker protection rules

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
Damn I think that this is honestly a really hard call. On one hand aBRT is much cheaper and provides a marginally faster service and likely would be implemented much sooner. But on the other a Street Car has the better potential draw people from from the airport to take transit especially since it c...

Does anyone know what the plan for long meadow circle down there was? It looks like a company bought up and tore down a bunch of single family homes then never did anything with it

Re: Metropolitan Council
Man could you imagine a more cohesive super region. more equal transportation network, more spread out response to low income housing. Maybe even being able to equitably spread out school funding across the entire region.

They already do staff cleaning crews at Target field for the trains, I believe they are trying to add more to Mall of america and union depot. Lake street light rail and brt stations each have a mostly permanent staff during the week. other than that they have 30 or so people that drive around the s...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
Why is this still being billed at a colored metro line. This seems more in line with our lettered BRT. It hardly looks like its getting dedicated lanes where it matters most.

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
I'm curious if this will be redeveloped or will have to be taken for the Blue Line Extension. Either way it is an ugly car centric building and happy to see it go. on current plans for the blue line it show the building needing to be demolished so i would assume they will be looking to buy it hopef...
