Re: Interstate 94

The reason why eliminating interstate 94 is never brought up is because it makes no sense from either a political, traffic planning, commercial, and safety viewpoint. If we did that first of all we would have to turn 36 into 8 lanes taking plenty of buildings and property via eminent domain. Traffic...

Re: Interstate 94

There is a big additional cost both capital expenditure and operationally to build light rail. When the benefit of it is very limited. If we want rail between downtown's we should look commuter rail in between pierce butler and energy park

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

From the rethinking I-94 resolution posted by the city of Minneapols Be It Further Resolved that the Rethinking I-94 Project must provide continuous bicycle/walking connections over the freeway from Ayd Mill Road in Saint Paul to a future Prospect Park Trail to 27th Avenue Southeast, improving the p...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but I think that the 20 mph speed limit is stupid. If we could magically make everyone drive 20 mph it would be good. But without major traffic calming all it will do is encourage more people to disregard speed limits as 20 mph unless you are actively ...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

There are so many apartment buildings within the catchment area of the route. The ability to have a high quality route to connect to Brooklyn Center and Minneapolis would be amazing.

Honestly I think it would be a logical extension of the C line

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus

The idea of extending it to West End or South of the rail trench to south, has too many costs and ineffiencies for what you gained compared to Glenwood which presently has probably more density than most of the C Line and is in the developing Harrison neighborhood. A chunk of this stretch also has ...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus

The easiest way to extend it south would be to have it Take Cedar Lake Rd/Wayzata Blvd out of Bryn Mawr and then it could take Ewing/France to the W. Lake St SWLRT Station. There's a lot of dead zone in that route without much transit potential to duplicate a route that could be taken with a transf...

I don’t think it’s funded yet. Doesn’t it still need the state senate to vote?
It does. My bad I didn't read that correct and got to excited

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)

How about extending it to Minneapolis via 62/35W, then changing the color to Silver using the perfectly reasonable rationale of having Red and Orange interlining for half the route makes the map confusing for color deficient people (like me!) You do bring up a great point about confusion for color ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Today the Blue Line Extension held another corridor management committee meeting. I think I was the only person not on the committee to call in, so that's moderately embarrassing. I'd invite others to tune in. This is important stuff. Governor Tim Walz was on the call. I wonder if he decided to dro...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)

Nah, let’s extend the C line down Cedar and reclaim the “Red Line” designation for either Riverview or Midtown. With Ramsey County looking to call the Rush Line “Purple” (it should be Silver IMO), we’re basically gonna be out of colors, unless we’re gonna go Chicago style and do Pink & Brown. Y...

Re: Labeling the Transit System

Im not talking bout the Robert Street South corridor. But when Rush line goes into downtown it arrives on robert street crossing the path of the gold line. That would make sense to extend the gold to minneapolis although if we're having a second rapid transit line between mpls and st paul. I think i...

Re: Ayd Mill Road

I think a two-lane AMR is a great idea. Considering that the ramps to/from 35E are one lane each, I'm not convinced that AMR needs two. It can probably still have a 45 mph speed limit due to its grade separation so the shortcut would still be there as an incentive to keep traffic off the local stre...

Re: Ayd Mill Road

What if Ayd Mill Road becomes the continuation of MN-51 or MN-280 so it has state funding. Connect it to I-94. Then traffic calm Snelling south of I-94 with a turnback. And either make it a 3-Lane road or give it bus lanes for the A-Line. Ayd Mill can even turn into a Super-2.with merging lanes and ...
