Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
If route 535 only had 1,200 daily riders and the A and C lines had a 30% bump in ridership over the routes they replaced how does the Orange line reach 8,000-10,000 daily riders? COVID or no COVID I can't imagine where the extra riders will appear from. Maybe future park and ride parking structures...

Photoshop the cranes out and this would make a nice post apocalyptic photo. I thought I'd like this building as much as the Carlyle but I don't.This thing has to be close to topped off, right?

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Closing the causeway is absolutely the solution, but that doesn't mean it will happen. How would access be retained to Bloomington Ave into Richfield? Would drivers have to cut through lake nokomis Parkway? Would Portland Ave be redone to allow cars to continue towards 62 west? Or at the very least...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
I wish they would have spent more in south Minneapolis. Heck, I would trade the fancy Lake street station for three 46th st style stations at 38th, Lake and Franklin. And maybe Diamond Lake with a new route along 54th? The fancy lake street has so many crucial amenities. The fact that it blocks win...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
I view the orange line as a long term investment. If/when the connecting services are improved and land use around the stations are too this line will become great. An aBRT line on 66th and 46th. And the B line would really make this route come alive. 66th already has high frequency transit with th...

I was trying to find the projected ridership. Instead I found this related document. https://www.metrotransit.org/Data/Sites/1/media/metro-orange-line/ol-connecting-bus/recommended-plan---may-2021---report.pdf Looking for this? https://www.metrotransit.org/Data/Sites/1/media/metro-orange-line/appen...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
There's a reason for everything, folks. And the reason why a station at 38th St wasn't ever considered as part of *this highway construction project* is because our Regional Transitway Guidelines call for highway BRT to have stations every 2 miles. Someone should probably talk to Met Council about ...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Once you add vertical circulation and ventilation to below grade stations, your costs go up exponentially. But the space requirements also go up a lot, and in the very tight Broadway corridor, this might be even more of a deal breaker. I wasn't suggesting below grade stations but rather tunnels bet...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Would it be possible to have at grade stations with shallow tunnels between stations? Maybe have the cross streets go beneath the stations like at Franklin station.

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
Looking at the map makes me wonder why they built a parking structure here. Not sure if this is temporary or permanent, but SouthWest Transit is opening up a couple pickle ball courts on top of the East Creek Station parking ramp. Interesting way of using an underutilized parking ramp.

Here is a map of the new route south of 63rd st. I extended it a couple blocks to pick up the new apartment complex. Probably should extend it further. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/44.8799685,-93.2491457/Bloomington+Ave+S+%26+63rd+St+E,+Richfield,+MN+55423/@44.8851072,-93.2542775,1493m/data=!3m1!...

Re: Fantasy maps
I've been wondering why Route 14 wasn't moved to Richfield Parkway when that road was reconstructed a few years back. Maybe add a stop by the Home Depot and Target? I bet more people would take the bus to Target if they had a stop that was closer. Or is there a reason to keep the current configurati...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
The cloverleaf from northbound 77 to westbound 62 is a pretty bad bottleneck, and I figure a flyover ramp would be a good concession for allowing 77 to be removed north of the Crosstown. I made a quick Photoshop to give an idea of what it would look like: https://photos.app.goo.gl/nVCHHd66Ags6tnYT6...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
I assume you're referring to Bloomington Central Station, which to be fair is sandwiched between two stations that are within walking distance of BCS. Knox & American will be kind of close to Knox & 76th, but I think far enough away that the two stations aren't overlapping coverage areas. I...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Are we assuming no one in those large apartment complexes at Penn-American will ride the bus? Exactly. And all signs point to more of that coming to the area. At this point, I'd guess most of Southtown is on the table for redevelopment. I'm assuming some will ride the bus but most likely not all of...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
If the goal is to sever the connection of 77 and Cedar in Minneapolis. Wouldn't the simplest solution be to use the two northern clovers and the southern ramps? Then build apartments or whatever on the former freeway entrance?
