Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

Would be nice if there were updated ridership projections for each station and for the initial year of operation instead of way off in 2040. My educated guess for average weekday ridership at each station in the first year of operation: Burnsville (HOTC and Travelers Trail)-300 South Bloomington TC...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

And probably an even more realistic trip would be someone from Burnsville going to Red Lobster. Or getting off at 98th Street and going to Applebee's or Snuffy's. The tone I got from this thread is the idea that suburbanites are totally enamored with the idea of patronizing businesses on Lake Stree...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

So the argument is a person from Burnsville is likely to take the Orange Line to get a burrito at the Lake Street Taco Bell? The argument I was trying to make is the number of people living, shopping or working around Lake street station is significantly higher than the number around American Blvd....

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

Maybe they're the same people who projected that the Kenilworth route would have higher ridership than the Uptown route on the Green Line Extension (I'm half-joking with that statement). I don't want to even think about the Kenilworth route. I just hope that person isn't still planning our next tra...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

But Lake Street is a destination itself with one of the busiest buses running on it. American Blvd. by comparison has car dealerships, Bed Bath & Beyond and a Red Lobster. I will be flabbergasted if American Blvd. has 3X the ridership. Well, people from the suburbs are going to be going to car ...

Not sure I would bike to Portland Ave. from Xerxes or vice versa. 2.5 miles X2 seems a bit much.

2097-2115 Marshall Ave. , Marshall Lofts/ Flats. 39 units, 3 stories. Replacing 4 houses. Now expected to break ground in April. Nine townhomes and thirty apartments (I've also heard 50 apartments, who knows?) https://www.unionparkdc.org/sites/default/files/Marshall%20Lofts%20Site%20Plan%20Mohagen....

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Plagiarizing a tweet of mine : Right now, MSP's METRO system isn't a cohesive network. Mostly you use one line and that's it. But in the next three years, that will change dramatically. METRO will go from 4 direct transfers (leaving aside some of the de-facto, but not direct transfers possible in d...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Hopefully at least from the green line to blue line stations. This stretch is so bad I've gotten out and walked faster than the bus traveled. If they can get this section up to a reasonable speed I'd be happy with the B line just being that stretch with the rest being left as the 21.

Fridley has a population density of 2,735/sq mi while Wittier neighborhood has a population density of 17,000/sq mi. why not build transit where the people are? Not to mention University is about as pedestrian friendly as Cedar is in Apple Valley.

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Egads! That article states that people involved in a crash that kills someone no longer need to file a report on it? I didn't know that was a law but why repeal it? I must be missing something. And why are we expanding US14? That looks exceptionally expensive for little gain. Only 57.5M for BRT out ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

How many requests does it take to add service? I think it would be nice to have route 23 service Uptown Transit Center up to 1 AM. And extend route 21 and 5 to 2AM stops at Uptown and Downtown.

Hwy 55 will be resurfaced soon. The project states that there will be accessibility updates at intersections, and interchange improvements at Lake Street. I really hope they can include some additional bicycle and pedestrian improvements in this project as well. https://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/pr...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

C is for Cedar. Extend it south. I'd rather turn the 515 north on Cedar, across the 10th Ave bridge, through the industrial park and terminate at Rosedale. Maybe knock the first 5 off and call it the 15. Then shift route 14 to Richfield Parkway with a stop between Target and Home Depot continue to ...
