Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor - General Topics
Here's a Finance & Commerce story (dated 9/5/23) and a rendering: https://finance-commerce.com/2023/09/passive-house-apartment-project-planned-in-minneapolis/ If the project hasn't changed since then, it's supposed to be 32 apartments and 1,553 square feet of commercial space, which could be one ...

Not a surprise. I am curious if any of the remaining Macy's in the metro are converted to Bloomingdale's. This is Macy's plan at some point they have ...

I wonder if this will take away events that would be at Target Field? That usually only has one or 2 concerts a year but the field gets all torn up. it is great to see this and it is about time a metro area of this size has a venue like this.

Re: Southside - News & General Topics
I just hope they do something as it is a mess. That gas station is an eyesore. I am not sure if they are going to put in a roundabout or a memorial but this shouldn't drag on. Many times I cross the city and avoid the freeway and I take 38th St. It is a major artery but now I go down to 42nd and ...

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
I see how building next to MOA makes sense from a fans perspective but it doesn't from the owners view. ARod/Lore are going to want as much of the pre/post game revenue that comes from an events as possible something being next/attached to MOA makes basically impossible.
If Wovles/Lynx do leave ...

Re: Rochester
Titan Development is proposing a new building at the former Michaels site in downtown Rochester.
the development plans call for a 14 story mixed-use building with approximately 175,000 square feet of space. The proposal currently includes about 30,000 square feet of retail space at the street ...

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
If it ends up being Downtown, it needs to serve the community somehow. Whether it's part of a larger development meeting needs, or infrastructure needs, or financing a fund to help with affordable housing or something.
If the arena is privately funded why would this be the case. There are ...

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
Arena's more than anything need to be downtown near the hotels, bars, and restaurants. Downtown's are also usually in the center of a metro area. Why should for instance someone in Andover have to drive to Bloomington to go to an event on a week night. Philadelphia is considering moving from where ...

Looks like there's no Brooklyn Center thread (although there's one for Brooklyn Park).
There's a draft master plan for the Shingle Creek area that has been published. It's largely residential focused, with some commercial and industrial elements. There's also some new parks included and talk of ...

Re: 38th and Chicago / George Floyd Square
You can't shut off this intersection to traffic. 38th St is a major artery that runs from east to west through the city. I use this route quite frequently. If they want people to come here which I think they do this does not make any sense. If closed and they expect people to park and walk even a ...

I know they are closing some Macy's and I wonder how that affects Southdale. I don't think it will close but if this is going high end some Macy's are being converted to Bloomingdale's or the smaller format Bloomie's. It should be interesting as I didn't see this coming.

Macy's closing 150 stores. I'd imagine Burnsville, Southdale, and Maplewood would be the most at risk of closing.

I see Hy-Vee's advertising everywhere. The grocery store model has changed. More and more people are getting everything delivered. I call it lazy but that is the way we are going. I don't know a Cub or even a Wal-Mart that is open 24/7. Reduced hours are also because of staffing.

Owatonna is a bit overrated. I prefer Faribault. It is more historic and much more scenic and just as well positioned and has a lot going on as well. It is also closer to the metro. Shattuck/St. Mary's is gorgeous as well as the entire east side. Just my 2 cents.

It will be interesting to see what kind of retail is able to fill the main floor if any. The landscape has changed dramatically in Uptown. There are more people moving into overpriced apartments which leaves less money to spend in the shops in the neighborhood.

The prices are outrageous. Subtract a grand from what they are charging and it would be reasonable.
