Seven Points redevelopment is back from the dead. Scaled down, but better than nothing. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2025/04/30/seven-points-development-update-uptown-minneapolis.html

Yuppie playground? I am not a yuppie and I am all for this arena. The more development downtown the better.

It is nice but you may have to back track to get to a business where you can't cross the median. I went to the Lowry before it was open and it was sparse and I went there last Saturday and it was packed.

Re: New Basketball Arena Discussion

There is no way it is not going to be downtown. There is plenty of room on either side of 94 near Glenwood Ave. Moving to the midway area of the suburbs is DOA.

it is pretty busy when the rally is going on in Sturgis. Interstates don't have to be busy. They are much safer than one lane roads that are pretty dangerous.

Re: Uptown - LynLake - The Wedge - News & General

I have lived in uptown since '96 and have rarely shopped in what is called uptown and recently never. I love my place but I shop in St Louis Park, Edina, and Richfield. Thankfully there is a LA Fitness in Richfield. The one in St. Louis Park that was just remodeled is terrible. I am not sure what ...

The examples people have provided of other teams/stadiums that move to the burbs have been NFL and MLB teams, which have more rural fan bases generally speaking.

I have a hard time believing that the first NBA example of this would be in the Twin Cities.

But I’m sure it helps the team owners ...

I am not sure if you are sports fans or are paying attention to what is going on but major leagues want one tenant arenas and stadiums. There is no way the Timberwolves and the Wild are going to share an arena while both teams are in the Twin Cities. Not happening. We are more than big enough to ...

In this article about Kohl’s closing the Knollwood location, https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2025/03/24/shoppes-at-knollwood-cbre-listing.html and the site going up for sale…

It mentions the Cub Foods is the most trafficked location in the entire chain.

Huh!

Here's a Finance & Commerce story (dated 9/5/23) and a rendering: https://finance-commerce.com/2023/09/passive-house-apartment-project-planned-in-minneapolis/ If the project hasn't changed since then, it's supposed to be 32 apartments and 1,553 square feet of commercial space, which could be one ...

I wonder if this will take away events that would be at Target Field? That usually only has one or 2 concerts a year but the field gets all torn up. it is great to see this and it is about time a metro area of this size has a venue like this.

I just hope they do something as it is a mess. That gas station is an eyesore. I am not sure if they are going to put in a roundabout or a memorial but this shouldn't drag on. I see how building next to MOA makes sense from a fans perspective but it doesn't from the owners view. ARod/Lore are going to want as much of the pre/post game revenue that comes from an events as possible something being next/attached to MOA makes basically impossible.

If Wovles/Lynx do leave ...

If it ends up being Downtown, it needs to serve the community somehow. Whether it's part of a larger development meeting needs, or infrastructure needs, or financing a fund to help with affordable housing or something.

If the arena is privately funded why would this be the case. There are ...

Looks like there's no Brooklyn Center thread (although there's one for Brooklyn Park).

There's a draft master plan for the Shingle Creek area that has been published. It's largely residential focused, with some commercial and industrial elements. There's also some new parks included and talk of ...
