Re: Future of the forum
It sounds like things are being taken care of--I've got my credit card info punched in the thing so if we're good until year end, I will start the shake down in November.

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
I also unironically think it will be very nice to have a fast, frequent connection from downtown to the 494 strip. I don’t figure too many people will (the walking conditions aren’t amazing) but I definitely will take the Orange Line to REI, Best Buy, Dick’s, etc.

Also pretty funny that the situation to the north is barely ten years old, it’s still an at-grade intersection in the 2008 Google Streetview images.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
For those with long commutes, the drive is worth it for one of 4 things typically: the pay of the job, the size of the house they have, the amount of land they have, or the location of the land. Driving further to have land in the country with a decent size house on it is worth it for some. I’d add...

Future of the forum
Hello all, As you may have seen in the other thread, there is interest at streets.mn in taking a more active role in how the forums work. I haven't been involved with streets.mn for a while, but they have been paying the bills and doing the occasional technical work for the forum for sometime now. I...

Has it been someone’s full time job to work on this project specifically for...ten years?

I’ve been impressed by how the past two updates to Skyscrapercity have made their forums increasingly dysfunctional and difficult to navigate. Maybe we could do something like that

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar
It’s wild how much a few mid-2000s PowerPoint presentations really took hold of everyone with streetcars. We need to be planning ahead, working on compelling PowerPoint presentations now, so we can have effectively set up one side of an issue in the 2030s, even after a ton of examples of it in actio...

The medium to high end outerwear cluster always seemed a bit odd to me—everyone knows what size North Face jacket they wear. It’s a category that’s particularly vulnerable to online shopping.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Very interested to see what happens with their express routes and the ridership between the two if/when they keep them. Not something I would use much anymore, but I’m still annoyed Metro Transit nerfed the off peak 94 to put people on the slower train. If urban users were forced into that, southwes...

They appear to have used some of the Nicollet Mall frontage for a hallway that maybe has a fire escape? That would rock.

I was at Microcenter midday during the week a couple months ago and it was packed. Hopefully they’d be able to find another spot or move into a new space in a redevelopment.
