Re: Rochester

I also think they need better connections to the Cities since we do have a big research industry, an entertainment industry and Corporate HQ. I wonder if there would be a way to do a BRT?..or just let private companies do their thing? We could always go back to the Zip Rail plans we abandoned when ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

A lot of the “people love working from home!” stuff feels like kind of a psyop. Do they? Individual people not liking going into their offices may have a lot to do with whether or not they like their current job—not the idea of going to work in general. Most people I know are itching to be back arou...

Sign in the window of the Dollar General says it’ll be open until 8, which seems a bit early, but that’s later than Target’s current closing time.

Man, does anybody remember the argument on here like six or seven years ago about whether or not train frequencies would increase on 5th Street with the Blue and Green Line extensions?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics

I live at 12th & Nicollet and my HOA fees are considerably higher than my mortgage, though it includes a lot. There are some pretty good deals out there in that batch of 1970s/80s buildings if you can stomach the idea of the high fees.

Re: Future of the forum

It sounds like technically there was a $40 charge for an “SSL certificate” (this sounds fake) so if three people want to Venmo me $10 that would be cool: @Nick-Magrino

You can make your screen name the comment and I’ll post er in the thread 😎

It sounds like things are being taken care of--I've got my credit card info punched in the thing so if we're good until year end, I will start the shake down in November.

I also unironically think it will be very nice to have a fast, frequent connection from downtown to the 494 strip. I don’t figure too many people will (the walking conditions aren’t amazing) but I definitely will take the Orange Line to REI, Best Buy, Dick’s, etc.

Also pretty funny that the situation to the north is barely ten years old, it’s still an at-grade intersection in the 2008 Google Streetview images.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

For those with long commutes, the drive is worth it for one of 4 things typically: the pay of the job, the size of the house they have, the amount of land they have, or the location of the land. Driving further to have land in the country with a decent size house on it is worth it for some. I’d add...

Future of the forum

Hello all, As you may have seen in the other thread, there is interest at streets.mn in taking a more active role in how the forums work. I haven't been involved with streets.mn for a while, but they have been paying the bills and doing the occasional technical work for the forum for sometime now. I...
