Re: Upper Harbor Terminal
I dont think those demands are realistic. I do think a compromise can be made and from what I understand there is a push for a middle ground in the proposal to at min have it not be a place for people from maple grove drive in for a concert and drive out. Also the space as is doesnt bring any value ...

Re: Crime
I tend to think its more so idiot with a gun or person doing it for attention to feel cool, or even maybe to distract people for a crime over a political move. Also the fact that it was on a ticktok of all things makes me think idiot. Also based on the video link i hope its pushed on to authorities ...

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2022
Its the other way around in my opinion. How many people voted for Walz in 2018 but ended up voting for trump in 2020. Walz won by over 11% in 2018 vs biden who won it by 7%. Still a large margin but one that is not nearly as strong and was very much powered by the metro area. If even some of the sup...

That seems to signal they must already be fairly far along in the design phase?

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2022
Correction. Based on the 2018 results he actually carried his old district in 2018. Which is slight lean gop and very republican outside of the Mankato and rochester areas. It’s not that they are more likely to vote for a Democrat from the metro area but that he’s losing support from part of the coa...

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2022
Well it may be generic somewhat bases outrage I think you truly underestimating how greater mn views him. Its actually very easy to do so(I mostly like him and would vote for him again). He let the two major cities burn in there opinion while crashing the economy over something he cant truly control...

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2022
I will be very curious if walz even runs in 2022. It seems to me half the state feels he has gone to far while the other half thinks he hasnt gone far enough.
I dont see the my pillow guy or really any Trumpian candidate going anywhere given up badly trump ran compared to biden state wide.

I think there is a good argument for preserving some of the significant modernist buildings in the city I just dont see it for this one. It would be one thing if they wanted to replace riverside plaza or the government center. https://www.startribune.com/minneapolis-planners-say-1969-modernist-build...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics
Given the size and shape of the lot im very curious on how they will make it all work based on what others have stated. There will be alot of pressure to preserve the music wall which I can understand. It is a very defining part of downtown for many people. Maybe have the tower only use part of the ...

I think it would indeed be a very interesting urban experience if future light rail was integrated with the skyway. Even one skyway level station.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - General Topics
Still no shortage of parking lots downtown even with the great progress made over the past 10 years. The parking lots at 5th and Hennepin are the ones that bother far more then this one but will still be a win to see this one go. I would guess 20 to 30 stories give that the gateway will bring 500 th...

https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2020/12/31/hines-marquette-office-development-minneapolis.html Hines as bought the parking lot at the 900 block of Marquette Avenue. Kind of surprised to see them float office space for it. 600-700 thousand square feet of office space is what they are floa...

Re: Interstate 94
Just to be that guy yes the debt can be a problem. The issue isnt tied to a single nation calling the debt but rather if inflation rates are able to exceed interest rates. If the opposite occurs the govt could have a major fiscal crisis as it cant devalue its debt. Excessive spending is a talking po...

Re: Interstate 94
Well said. My issue isnt with having it be a long term goal its that proposing it right out of the gate would gain almost no political traction. You need to do smaller projects that build towards that until one day people look around and see that its no longer needed/gone in its current state. Inves...

Re: Interstate 94
I think thats kind of obvious of course its mostly local traffic but it would be a major construction project that would require a large amount of money from the state and those state senators and reps would be very loud as even if they dont use it every day they still use it during the year. People...

Re: Interstate 94
Trying to sell removing I94 is a none starter for most people in the state who just care about getting into and out of the city for work, sports, ect in my opinion. Capping it is something alot more people would be open to and if it was successful would move the conversation forward on either tunnel...
