Re: Southside - News & General Topics

A bit of speculation, but utility locates have been happening around 4301 E Lake St the last couple of weeks. It appears to be unrelated to general Lake Street goings-on, and fingers crossed it indicates progress on this mixed-use project: https://www.longfellowwhatever.com/new-plan-in-motion-for ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Fortunately, I can bike to work between Longfellow and Hamline-Midway most days. Occasionally I have to drive. What I observed yesterday around 4:15pm on Marshall Ave/Lake St heading west from Fairview/Prior Aves to well into Minneapolis was pretty astonishing. Took about 5-7 cycles to get from one ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Discussion

Coincidentally, I hopped on the forum tonight to comment on exactly this. I walked down most of Nicollet Mall each way, first at 3:15pm, then at 7pm. Both ways, it felt busier than in previous months, but i was wondering why there wasn't a police presence. Until, that is, I saw two squad cars idling ...

Great write-up, thanks! Good reminder to head back for a visit, and make use of the Borealis when we do so.

A few area restaurant notes: Lynette is open at 38th St and 42nd Ave. Peppers and Fries closed earlier this summer, and it sounds like Chicago Taste Authority will be closing this month.

Re: Southside - News & General Topics

Glad to see some news on this site, after years of silence after the initial 4/5-story full block proposal. And, at least initially, also happy to see they are rehabbing the existing building as well as adding housing. Thanks for the update!

Re: Uber/Lyft

As I type, the CNN main page features an article titled "Lyft and Uber to cease operations in Minneapolis after new minimum wage law." At least there's a decent photo of downtown. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: Dogwood Coffee : mixed use

I've felt this way for over a decade, but still scratch my head as to why. Aside from the economic/infrastructure draws already mentioned, the area is an easy bike ride or drive to downtown Mpls, the main U of M campus, and Minnehaha Falls / the river trail system in general. Not to mention ...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Marshall Avenue continues to see fairly steady redevelopment. Frana is underway on a decent-sized project just west of Snelling, looks like it is Marshall Flats...not sure if these renderings are still accurate, but I guess we'll see:

Re: Dogwood Coffee : mixed use

Awesome. One less vacant lot on East Lake and (maybe?) opportunities for other small businesses to move into the current Dogwood and/or Coven spaces.

There was a proposal a couple years ago for a nice-looking mixed-use at 4301 E Lake (old Dragon City Chow Mein) but I haven't heard anything lately ...

There's a tower crane up at Agra (the aforementioned old Perkins site). Very happy to see this project well underway. Not sure how updated this site is, but it's a nice-looking project: https://collagearchitects.com/agra
