Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Minneapolis ranked #123 best biking city (#21 for large cities) in people for bikes city rankings. https://cityratings.peopleforbikes.org/cities/minneapolis-mn St Paul did a bit better #83 (#15 for large cites). I'm a bit sceptical of these rankings but I'm hoping we can do better in the future esp...

What will the detour even be for this? Based on Hennepin county’s website it won’t reopen until 2024

Re: Downtown Minneapolis LRT Tunnel Discussion
I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but can someone explain how these issues can't just be fixed with 100% signal priority at intersections? You could probably fix the light rail issues that way, but it could potentially create issues for buses and cars that have to cross the light rail trac...

Re: Park and Portland Avenues
Hennepin County applied through the Metropolitan Council's Regional Solicitation federal grants process for a protected bikeway on Park/Portland between the Midtown Greenway and I-94. Their application scored the highest out of all bike/trail projects. They have a predicted construction date of 202...

I feel like any office move is gonna piss people off. My office has been in golden valley for decades and I’m sure anyone who lives in a far flung western burb would be annoyed if they were expected to go downtown

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Oh, doubling back on this to make one more point: • The METRO D Line’s opening on December 3 will bring more reliable service to the corridor now served by Route 5, our busiest bus route. Largely replacing local bus service with BRT service benefits customers and operators with a minimal impact on ...

Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
Is this a tipping point for Lake and Hennepin to return to being a large neighborhood node instead of an attempted regional shopping/partying attraction? Hard to say, once the uptown theater renovation is done that should be a shot in the arm for nightlife in the area. I think the pourhouse is bein...

Re: West End area - St. Louis Park / Golden Valley
I’ve wondered if they could make use of the express lane for transit - it currently has completely separate ROW from the general purpose lanes from downtown to highway 100. Maybe include a stop at Penn to connect to SWLRT and a west end station?

Re: West End area - St. Louis Park / Golden Valley
There was some preliminary study of a 394 BRT line in the Highway Transitway Corridor Study (2014) https://metrocouncil.org/Transportation/Planning-2/Reports/Highways-Roads/Highway-Transitway-Corridor-Study.aspx It actually rated well in the study. They could start with giving the 645 half decent f...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
It's true that these types of retail businesses don't want to be downtown... but they do apparently want to be in the North Loop, which is "downtown" in my mental model of the Twin Cities, but a different submarket from the point of view of the consultants. I wish downtown landlords would...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
A lot of talk about building owners needing to attract new business downtown but...do businesses even want to be downtown? My job is mostly remote, but I was in the office last week and walking around during a break, there's no other way to describe it other than a ghost town. It's kind of a Catch-...

Re: F Line BRT (Central-University)
Metro Transit & the city should install brt stations on Nicollet mall, then remove all other stops. Make every bus on Nicollet “rapid”. Add signal priority on top of that. Would be such an improvement for downtown transit

Re: F Line BRT (Central-University)
I don't expect this to get any traction, Metro Transit seems attached to the "crawling at 10mph even when it's not detoured for farmers markets and other events" Nicollet Transit Mall experience, but I left a comment requesting that they look at crossing downtown on Marq2, using the Orang...

I hope there isn’t a redevelopment, those are great commercial spaces that could serve the neighborhood well if they are filled by new businesses. There are many sites nearby that would be much better spots for redevelopment, starting with the McDonald’s drive thru/parking lot across the street.

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
I get that we can’t abandon large portions of the metro, and that people everywhere deserve transit access. But it feels like such a waste spending hundreds of millions on projects on cities that barely even want the transit, and who have terrible land use and road design around the station areas. T...
