Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics
Between this, the Youngblood project, the Northrup King Artist Housing, and the 1717 Central project, it's pretty clear that developers are building exactly 1:1 car parking to unit ratios in upper Northeast. All of these projects hit that mark, which gives Ward 1 the second highest car parking to u...

Solhem submitted an EAW for a redevelopment of this site, says Bizjournals . 600 apartments across two 7-story buildings, with 600 parking stalls in the basement. The north building will contain a currently unnamed brewery and taproom on the first floor, which is kinda ironic given the Able closure...

Uptown goodwill is my dream! I like buffalo exchange but I don’t want to have to go way south on Nicollet for a cheap thrift storeI will once again say that Uniqlo would be the perfect "chain" uptown tenant.

The Freemont and Hammer and Sickle have closed. Both spaces are up for rent online. I have also heard that H and M might be closing this week but unconfirmed. Chino Latino is selling all of the items in there former space. Not sure if this means something new is moving into that space https://bring...

Passes City Council 11 - 2 today Layout is the same, 6 hours minimum bus lanes in each direction. Wonsley and Goodman voted against. The good news is that the layout is unchanged, so it is designed with bus lanes in mind. I would be much more upset if they had made changes to the actual geometry of...

Frey has strong support in parts of the Somali community as well, and he's handling this situation like he handles any other crisis - disappear from view until it blows over so he doesn't become a target. I see Latrisha as more of the heir apparent to mayor, and a significantly worse person than Ra...

I hate this project except for the section in Minneapolis. The Met Council should be promoting T.O.D. rather than constructing more surface parking spaces in Robinsdale. Do you think anyone on the bus tour actually got out of the vehicle and stood in the middle of that 6-lane highway? What an awful...

Wood lake nature center in Richfield has a boardwalk going across the lake and I think most people would agree that it makes the park nicer.Or, let's not build any bridges across the lakes because it detracts from them.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I like the idea of a boardwalk connecting Cedar Lake Point Beach and Cedar Lake East Beach. Would be a nice shortcut for people who don't want to walk/bike around the entire lake, and it would greatly improve accessibility to the 21st Street Station from the west side of the lake. Not sure homeowne...

Re: The Standard at Dinkytown - 515 15th Ave SE - 17 stories / 195'
That said, I'm still happy to see the huge increase in density this will provide on these parcels, so I'm not sure I'd be willing to kill this project over the lack of an active street frontage. Agreed, and I don’t think it would set a good precedent to try to kill a project that is perfectly allow...

Re: The Standard at Dinkytown - 515 15th Ave SE - 17 stories / 195'
According to the analysis in the staff report, yes, because the underlying zoning of the parcel is R5, which does not allow for commercial uses. If the zoning had been updated to match the comp plan to allow for commercial uses, they would be required to have them, and if the applicant asked for a ...

Is it legal to approve a single use building on a parcel that the 2040 plan designates as mandatory mixed use? This passed on the consent agenda. Rainville didn't even bother to show up.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Looking at the 2040 plan, interior 2 is described as “typically applied… in the areas in between transit routes, and on select streets with intermittent local transit service”. That doesn’t exactly describe the parts of kenwood directly adjacent to the light rail station. I get that some people appr...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Everyone talks about the routing problem with this line, and while I agree that it would be better to have the light rail go through uptown, I think an under discussed thing holding the current routing back is zoning. Specifically the zoning in ward 7 (bryn mawr and 21st street stations). Yes there ...
