Re: Making Transit More Feasible/Less Intimidating for New Riders
- Add UV air treatment systems on all buses. I was riding around La Crosse on the MTU last week, and even the stray 22 year old Gillig they're still running smelled super clean and fresh inside thanks to that air system they have on all their buses. Let's face it, if you get on a bus and it smells n...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
... Siemens S700 vehicles are still preferred for this right? What are the differences between the normal and streetcar versions? I can’t really find any difference, though I do believe new S700s get cool colored door indicator lights (see Seattle Link and Charlotte Gold Line vehicles) If rail does...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
In one of the presentations about running shorter trains there was mention of new platform decals to show where cars 1-2-3 would 'land' or end. I think they said announcements as well, though I'm not sure if that will be specific to each train like some systems, 'The next Blue Line train is due in t...

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
Wal-Mart also closed the University Ave store not terribly long ago. I wonder how the Robbinsdale Hyvee is doing? Maybe that will be the next store to close. Their prices are higher than the nearby Cub. I have it on good authority that Robbinsdale Hy-Vee is ailing, in part due to theft. There has b...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
My guess is that the Blue Line is suffering from 3 major interrelated categories: (1) MoA is less of a trip generator than pre-Covid due to changing retail trends; (2) most of the recent bad press about light rail conditions has seemed to be Blue Line-focused, particularly at the Lake Street statio...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I'm a bit prejudiced in this opinion, but I'd certainly welcome Uber/Lyft pulling out of MN completely. The amount of close calls I've had over the years at MSP from rideshare drivers running stop signs/red lights, not paying attention to the road but their phone, driving erratically, etc. has been ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I was able to attend the MNDot Hwy 5/W. 7th Street Improvement Project open house yesterday. It doesn't appear they've got the highly detailed improvement concepts that were presented there posted on the project website yet. However there are lots of potential improvements to improve pedestrian cros...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
One thing I'm concerned with on the streetcar options is we may think of street layout like this: https://maps.app.goo.gl/DCAYVE5vGAEsQNeH7 https://maps.app.goo.gl/HdDkppKoGxChKe6Q6 But I don't want to actually get this due to various regulations/standards/etc: https://maps.app.goo.gl/xSgSnzK3mpT7na...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I suppose this also kinda applies to SWLRT as well, but I wonder how the trains will be signed once the BLRT opens? These are the options I could see Metro Transit doing: a. Signed as 'Minneapolis' until splitting off and proceeding as "Mall of America" or "Brooklyn Park" depend...

Metro Transit March 16th, 2024 service changes: https://www.metrotransit.org/quarterly-service-changes-begin-saturday-march-16 83 - Extended to Rosedale and no longer stops at Roseville Target; uses Lexington instead of I-35E on south end of route. Re: Bloomington Central Station & South Loop Development
Oxendales appears closed after a three month tenure. That's a shame. I'd sure like to know what the reasons were for closing so soon. I'm assuming they must've had a lease agreement to break or pay penalties to exit. Was business so bad they were spiraling into debt? Building structure issues? Mana...

If we were to push for a hyper-pricey hyperloop to Rochester though then would they finally give us a cost saving decent regional rail line service there to shut us up? ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
I guess technically Mendota Heights could join the MVTA, they currently only have fixed route service from MVTA routes 436 and 446. The rest of the, err, 'town' (subdivision??) is still all suspended Metro Transit lines. (75 branch, 415 and 452) On a side note, were Bloomington and Edina ever possib...

Well the way I see this the options look like; 1 - A 'streetcar' that's not actually a streetcar type service and skips the seemingly popular Watson/Tuscarora stops. - Provides a slower ride from W. 7th to the Airport for the hundreds of Airport and MOA employees, visitors and travelers who rely on ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Does anyone know how to get data on specific Route numbers for the "regular" bus? I expect the B Line ABRT route to really do well when it starts up in 2024 or 2025. There is or was a way to look up very detailed info on individual routes, even stops IIRC. If someone can explain that agai...
