Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar

The proposed bus access changes around the 34th/494 interchange are interesting. I would assume other services going that way to serve the Airport (I.e. 495, 686) could also use that access.

If they build along that segment of the CP spur I would prefer to see two stations that align with the ...

Re: Gold Line BRT - Woodbury to St. Paul (3/22/2025) and Minneapolis (2027)

I'm guessing Gold will at minimum gain some ridership from folks going between DTSP <-> Sunray/Sunray TC

Checking midday weekday scheduled travel time between Rice Park Station or 5th/7th and Sunray:
- Gold 17 minutes (10 min freq)
- 63 26 minutes (15 min freq)
- 70S 22 minutes (60 min freq)
- 74S ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Let's see if it can last longer than their other local route experiments.

Agreed. At least with this attempt it is effectively replacing the existing PRIME 494 service to MOA/MSP, both of which seem to get a good amount of demand based on observations. I'd assume at SWS they'll continue local ...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

Take it with a grain of salt as this is just conversation between train drivers, but I heard Metro Transit is considering splitting the Green Line into two routes,

Has there been anything noted on what the planned run time would be for a full run on the current Green Line plus the SW? I would ...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)

Out of curiosity does anyone know if the buses the opt outs use for dial services and the ones metro use for mobility requires a CDL?
Saw that one transit provider out west started using those little electric buses mvta tested 2 years ago precisely because they don't require one for drivers ...

With the new system Implementation comes the option to pay directly with any card. I expect many people will forego having a Metro Transit payment card no matter what it’s called.

The only driving force to continue having a card would be monthly passes or discount fares.

Fare capping or passes ...

Based on this presentation for the upcoming Transportation Committee meeting, it looks like removal of the current weekday local rush hour fare surcharge on all local/'METRO' service will take effect in January if approved. Express routes would continue to have the rush hour surcharge, with changes ...

This may have very little effect, but I'm kind of curious if the increase in assorted delivery services since 2020 has impacted home buyers perceptions of travel time and such when evaluating where to move. Yeah in my opinion it friggin sucks to live somewhere where it takes 20 minutes of driving in ...

Re: Gold Line BRT - Woodbury to St. Paul (3/22/2025) and Minneapolis (2027)

Considering in 2013 it was proposed to completely remove the 94 express between downtowns outside of weekday rush hours to help pump up the Green Line ridership, and the midday weekday service we currently have was the result of heavy pushback on that proposal from transit riders, it's nice to see ...

Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar

The most workable solution to the "how do we cross the river" issue would appear to be to advocate to the current MAC Commissioners why transit is good along with pushing who ever is Governor to appoint people to the MAC that support transit going forward

Cleaning up the light-rail and getting ...

With the Riverview shelved, now the question is how soon can we get 10 minute frequency on W. 7th either with the 54 (as proposed in the Network Now Draft) or re-badging as a Rapid Bus line? Network Now draft has 2027, and MNDot's W. 7th resurfacing and streetscape improvements were originally ...

Still very little service crossing between Metro Transit territory and the opt-out's territories, and I wonder if Metro Transit is working with the opt-outs on this plan at all. It shouldn't be a tall order to get a local route crossing between Bloomington and Eden Prairie, Brooklyn Park and Maple ...

Re: Making Transit More Feasible/Less Intimidating for New Riders

Pre-pandemic there was 24 hour service on the 5/19 and the Green Line. I believe Metro Transit also added 24 hour service to the 10 and the 18 a few years before the pandemic.

They should have a Green and Blue Line overnight bus service and perhaps on the lettered lines and a few other key routes ...

- Add UV air treatment systems on all buses. I was riding around La Crosse on the MTU last week, and even the stray 22 year old Gillig they're still running smelled super clean and fresh inside thanks to that air system they have on all their buses. Let's face it, if you get on a bus and it smells ...
