Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

I still consider this downtown.
As does Metro Transit, for what that's worth.

Re: 300 Second St. SE

I thought this was going to be part of the Dominium development. Office and retail sounds great for this location.

Re: Stone Arch 2 - (520 2nd Street Southeast)

They've finally started priming the concrete board sections. I'm still a believer in this project. Re: St. Anthony Main Movie Theater

The theater has had limited showings this summer due to the renovation. They have a couple pictures up on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/stanthonymaintheatre

Re: Upper Mississippi -- No Locks For You

Can the locks be reopened once it's realized that this measure failed to stop the carp migration?

Re: The 155 - (155 University Avenue Southeast)

Yeah this is all sorts of bad for this location.

Maybe the scariest part though is at the end, where the old members don't want to do anything that wouldn't benefit them directly.
I think that sums up the boomer generation mentality pretty nicely.

Interesting that a bank couldn't finance their own project.

Re: Old House Plans

I was able to track down descendents of the original owner of my 1880 house using Ancestry.com which accesses a lot of different records in addition to the census. It's a little pricey, but you could just join for one month, get all your research down and then drop it. The Hennepin County Library h...

There is now a jersey barrier around this site, and there was some excavation equipment earlier this week, but it's gone now.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

I wonder if it would be feasible to move the Star Tribune building over one block, where the standalone residential / prison screen building is proposed. It could then be converted to housing or some other usage.

This probably looks less good than people were hoping.
I don't know. I think this turned out pretty decent personally. They did a much better job on the masonry than its neighbor. ;)

I think it's interesting that a developer that has built, and is building, several nice looking and urban oriented projects would want to build this.

Re: ADM to Relocate Global Headquarters - MPLS in the Mix

If you're making an academic observation as a point of discussion, okay, sure, they could certainly try that. But if you really think the commerce clause could be stretched (without a successful challenge) to allow the Feds to control how states use state level tax breaks then I quit. It certainly ...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)

Eh, I find their deli and grab and go type stuff to be pretty underwhelming and VERY overpriced for what it is. I would much rather spend $25 at Lunds(love their deli items) or even Chipotle like you mention. That is just me. Not a big fan of Whole Foods...but I am very glad they are at this corner...
