Re: Park and Portland Avenues
Hennepin County applied to the same grant source to add an additional mile of protected bikeways from Lake Street to 38th Street. https://metrocouncil.org/Transportation/Planning-2/Transportation-Funding/Regional-Solicitation/Results-of-Solicitations/2024-Applications/Multiuse-Trails-and-Bicycle-Fac...

Re: 38th and Chicago / George Floyd Square
Route 23 will return to 38th Street between Portland Ave and Bloomington Avenue starting March 16, 2023.

I don't see any plans about the D Line or Route 5.

Re: Discontinued Bus Routes
Route 612 and Route 12 are heavily intertwined. It used to be most Route 12 trips went from around Opus/Hopkins to downtown via Hennepin Ave. Eventually more trips started just going between Opus and Uptown. Those shortline trips were numbered Route 612 in 2017. Before the pandemic, Route 612 mostly...

Re: Discontinued Bus Routes
Speaking of the Opus area, around 10 years ago I remember a reverse commute route between Opus and downtown. It was either an express or limited-stop service, and there was only one trip per weekday. An oddball route to me, but maybe an employer contracted with Metro Transit to provide it. I know i...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Does anyone know how to get data on specific Route numbers for the "regular" bus? There is or was a way to look up very detailed info on individual routes, even stops IIRC. If someone can explain that again I'd like to know as well. The link was posted and referenced a few years back I th...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
The Red Line was not about transit, it was about adding through lanes and turn lanes to Cedar Ave in Apple Valley, consolidating access, replacing millions of dollars worth of aging stoplights, etc. If 350 people get to ride a bus each day that's just a bonus. Oof, I didn't realize how bad the proj...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Would anyone know where to find some data on the operating Cost per hour and/or mile for minibuses? I've been digging through study/report PDFs from Google for a couple hours now trying to find some. It doesn't have to be laser-accurate. The only one I found was from the 1980s - but I don't trust t...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
A little off topic but what is the deal with route 83 stopping at HarMar and not continuing to Rosedale? Seems a shame to stop just short. The quick answer is that to provide 30-minute frequencies on the current Route 83, it takes 3 bus drivers to operate the route at once. If the route was extende...

Re: Eden Prairie - General Topics
Shutterfly/Lifetouch decided it was a better idea to tear down 1 of the 2 buildings on their campus and turn it into greenspace than trying to lease it out. They give the reason that there wasn't enough parking to sublease it, but the idea of tearing down a 20 year old building seems grim for the co...

Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)
I think Cretin makes sense from a transit network perspective. It could easily have Route 63, 87, and 134 stop at a Cretin Ave. These routes are close to some key destinations like St. Kate's, St. Thomas, and the Saint Paul campus of the U of M. They also had some pretty good frequency pre-pandemic....

Re: Eagan, Apple Valley, Burnsville - General Topics
Thomson Reuters is looking to sell a portion of their Eagan campus as employees seek hybrid work arrangements. They are looking to sell 179 of their 263 acres. They may look for a smaller space for employees in the southeast metro. Vacancy in the office market in the Eagan area apparently increased ...

Re: East 38th Street & 38th St Station Development
Metro Transit applied for Regional Solicitation federal funding to reconfigure 38th St Station and add some transit oriented development. In some ways, the proposal looks similar to 46th St Station in terms of a development surrounded by bus stops. It appears they've had some operational issues with...

I thought a thread on this intersection would be worthwhile to discuss possibilities for the future. This can encompass transit, street configurations, or memorial considerations. I posted this in the Transportation forum because of the transportation implications are especially interesting with the...

Re: Park and Portland Avenues
Hennepin County applied through the Metropolitan Council's Regional Solicitation federal grants process for a protected bikeway on Park/Portland between the Midtown Greenway and I-94. Their application scored the highest out of all bike/trail projects. They have a predicted construction date of 2027...
