House Transportation and Finance Committee is meeting today. Blue Line Extension to BRT is still a part of the proposed transportation bill as of now. Study is expected to come out of existing resources AKA lets delay and increase the cost of this project for no reason.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I should also add that both the original blue and green lines vastly exceeded ridership estimates. I understand that those were both pre-covid, however with a current estimate of 12-13k/day (likely to increase with updated estimates this summer), I won't be surprised in the least to see that ...

Not the flashiest building, but I think it's still a sharp design and is exactly what I want to see along the Green Line.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Every year that we delay building these infrastructure projects means an increase in cost to build. Best time to build light rail on worthy corridors was yesterday, second best time is today. Half the reason these cost so much is we spend a million years bickering about how it should be done and ...

Oh dang, I glanced at the thread name when posting and assumed it was the same as the larger forum. Should belong in "Northside - News & General Topics". My bad.

Re: Forum Maintenance & Technical Issues
Looks like it has something to do with the amount of active users on the forum. Yesterday when it was fixed it went from a few thousand active users (maybe 10 registered users and 4000 guests), back down to 40 or so active users. Today it's slowing down again with 2000 active users (5 registered and ...

Shovel ready, as long as it receives a federal funding match, which it most likely will not under the current administration.

Bill failed to advance out of the committee. 5 yeses and 6 noes.
Handwringing from cities about design standards and loss of local control over housing they refuse to approve killed it.

Re: 2025-2026 Minnesota Legislature
Tomorrow is a big day for housing at the capitol. S.F 2229 (Minnesota Starter Home Act) is getting its last committee hearing before heading to the senate floor. This bill would provide statewide upzoning for all residential areas to allow duplexes and townhomes as well as regulating minimum lot ...

Obviously no one should have to deal with people pooping on the sidewalk or stealing their packages, however the problem is with the issue of homelessness and the opioid crisis, not with the train nor the sidewalk.

Hopefully with the 2050 comprehensive plan, they at the very least update a lot of the city and county bicycle network maps. I don't think the city map has been updated since 2020 or so.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
HAWKs really don't make sense to me. If you're gonna go to all of the work and expense to put up what is essentially a traffic signal, make it work like a traffic signal that doesn't have multiple confusing phases that average drivers don't understand. Green -> yellow -> red is already understood ...
