Re: Rumors!
Furthermore.... [QUOTE=Texas RE;115934183 ]...Spliting the development site between hotel-condo & the office tower does negate most of the problems though. The hotel operator only does things 1 way, the right way with their own cash. Having that block develop into a large mixed-use project cons...

Re: Rumors!
I'm simply posting a quote. However I've heard nearly the same thing from a different source too. [QUOTE=Texas RE;115929150] I'm guessing that this is in reference to the Opus Ritz development site. There are 2 distinctly different proposals for this site. The proposal that was leaked was a very ea...

A rather glowing piece about Minnesota's energy strategy in the New York Times:

There is Segue Coffee on 10th between Portland and Park too. Sandwiches, pastries, entertainment on Fridays and WiFi. Just outside the core is The Nicollet at Franklin & Nicollet and the Boiler Room at 18th & 3rd Av. The Nicollet also has frequent live entertainment. Also downtown is Moose &...

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)
Good post. Agreed. Agreed Twice. Archiapolis is a practicing architect (and, I might add, I was as well before I was seduced by CG modeling :) ). I put far more faith in his "armchair criticisms" than I do most of those on this forum. No offense, but I am sometimes appalled at the shallow...

An article in the Charlotte Observer summarizes the trip their officials took to Minneapolis and their findings. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/06/23/4999165/charlotte-chambers-minneapolis.html#.U6jCfrGzKhM From the article: "Looking at beautiful old buildings sprinkled throughout Minnea...

It's actually unclear about the skyway. Yes, the level 2-7 plan doesn't show a connection. But if you look carefully at the 1st floor plan there is a dotted area crossing the alley into Nic on Fifth labeled "location of future skyway above."

Re: Thresher Square
Well, since it was brought up, I agree that the design is pretty bad. Especially since this is in concert with the Thresher Square renovation into a hotel. There doesn't seem to be any relationship between the two. The stellar facade of Thresher Square makes the apartment building look like a Motel 6.

130 delegates from Charlotte have been in the Twin Cities studying our transportation network among other things. Here's an interesting article that appeared in the Charlotte Observer regarding the Super Bowl: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/06/19/4990117/charlotte-as-super-bowl-host-citys.htm...

RB didn't go run and cry in his corner, complaining of the meanies on the internet torturing him. He just chose to stop socializing with us. That's all. Present evidence that this actually happened. Not a third party account from min-chi-cbus, but an actual statement from retiredbanker saying he wo...

^ I don't want that reputation! All I can do is report what I hear at the moment. Things change, things get built, things don't get built. Right now, the Ritz block is a two-tower major project. It could deflate or get even bigger. How's that for a committed statement!

Height will also depend upon whether the 600-800k is gross leasable or net rentable space.
This is also the site where Ryan was planning a supertall with Pickard Chilton as the architect, before the Fall.

Yes, the leaked Ritz rendering is a conceptual drawing to shop around to potential tenants & investors. It does not resemble the final project at all.

Re: Hampton Inn & Suites - (19 8th Street North)
I'm a bit surprised that a building this size is essentially slab-on-grade (with frost footings of course). No basement.
