Re: 700 Washington & Third Apartments/Hotel
Zenith is a quarter block with 65 units and 9 stories. The Aloft next door is a half-block with 155 rooms. Granted the apartments in the new proposal likely won't be the size of Zenith's condos, but I'd expect a good-sized building for the area if they are using a half-block. Maybe in the 10-story r...

510 Marquette Avenue
Perhaps another new development on Marquette? Developer Ned Abdul is buying the 510 Marquette Building(the old Federal Reserve Bank). The mostly vacant Class B building was previously bought by a group of local investors just 10 months ago. Interesting tidbit from the article - the building has an u...

Re: Downtown Office Market
Pretty neat graphic of available space in Minneapolis using a building-by-building technique. Wells Fargo seems to be the current premium space based upon its price of $37.27 per square foot:

Re: Plymouth Building apartments
Another tidbit from the article on Bizjournals: "On the first floor of the building there's a giant empty restaurant that was formerly the home of Tom Pham's Wondrus Azian Kitchen. TruCore plans to split that space into two different establishments. It's working with a specialty beer bar for 3,...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
OK, a little more on topic. I noticed in the Yale University narrative for the Hines Competition the phrase "the Metropolitan Council projects Minneapolis to grow by 294,000 residents...by 2020." Really? Where did the Met publish that figure? That seems crazy. That would put Minneapolis at...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
With all this talk about the street level, I thought I'd re-post the first floor plan. This was from the Magellan proposal. I don't know if it's been changed. Re: Vikings Stadium
..... Exactly. I do agree with Rybak’s assessment that this area is primed for redevelopment (unlike in past decades). The Mill City is filling in and could jump Washington, Elliot Park could expand North, the CBD could expand East, the Armory could be redeveloped, the Ryan/WF proposal could go thr...

Re: StoneBridge (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)
This will be a cool bookend to the park. As I've said before too this will really extend the skyline looking from 35W. Yes,in a slight way. But here we are .... Minneapolis is now in the big leagues as far as I'm concerned. A 12 or 15 or 20-story building is a minor blip on the skyline. And let me ...

I've spent a fair amount of time in downtown Atlanta. If you build towers for the sake of towers, you get Atlanta. No thanks.
Bottom line: You need a car.

Yeah, Pickard-Chilton isn't having much luck in the Twin Cities. They were going to be the architect for the Ryan supertall on the TCF site, no?

Re: Downtown Office Market
The talk of TCF acquisition is going on outside of this forum as well: David Bugajski, financial services analyst for San Francisco-based Discern Analytics, speculated on a buyout possibility at TCF Financial. The Wayzata-based regional bank frequently sees its name mentioned in acquisition talks. B...

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
We saw this coming, didn't we?
Century Plaza will be closing and (presumably) sold and replaced with 6 satellite hubs for residents:

So at least one piece is falling into place for a new hotel.

Re: 2024 Olympic Bid?
That Onion piece was brilliant. But the Twin Cities have bid for it 4 times previously and indeed was the International runner-up to the winner, Helsinki, in 1952. If Atlanta could do it the Twin Cities certainly could. While Atlanta grew at an explosive rate in the last 20 years, their MSA populati...

Yes I have heard the same thing about the Ryan project. And i have also heard about 4 additional towers, one of which is also a near-supertall. (And I think nasa and I have different contacts so we're not just repeating each other's speculations.) It doesn't mean they all will happen. The spoils may...

If they'd reverse a couple of the "bay windows" along Nicollet that would make a nice semi-sheltered sidewalk cafe space.

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
There is a plaza at 5th & Nicollet. It's part of Excel's building across the Mall. The rendering shows it because the viewpoint is west along 5th, with Renaissance Square on the right side.
