Re: Burch Pharmacy Building - (1934 Hennepin Avenue)

I had no idea Cotty was some kind of cultural icon... That's pretty cool that he embraced the graffiti. Not many people would do that. I still would rather not have a billboard on the side of this re-beautified building. A sign/menu for the restaurant (and/or other tenants) would be preferable. Outd...

Re: The Three Nine Four (Golden Valley)

From a land use perspective, dense housing seems more compatible with the surroundings than the existing very low density housing. I agree with this sentiment and think it could be applied to a lot of arguments about density/height around the city. Rather than critiquing a proposal for being too bi...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Nice Ride Season 3 to end at 10pm Sunday Nov. 4. Removal of bikes and stations will begin Monday. After having a subscription in 2011, which I used WAY more than I ever thought I would, I kind of missed the dopey green bikes this summer. I think I rented one just once in all of 2012. Having a free t...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

Not that dumb if they're paying naming rights for it (which is mentioned in one of the articles).

You can't ask for a bigger, more prominent landmark than a stadium. Literally everyone knows where it is.

On top of that, The Interchange is a pretty dumb, generic name.

Re: BUZZA Lofts of Uptown

With all of this development happening in the area, I'd be surprised if 29th wasn't redone sometime in 2013...well not that surprised.

It's not like it's that long of a stretch...we're talking Lyndale to Fremont, or Lyndale to Dupont (Rainbow) at the least.

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

It seems the Strib, PP, and F&C are all reporting on this negotiation between HennCo & United Properties. From what I gleaned, this is my prediction: "The Interchange" will be renamed "Target Field Station" and the two platforms (new & existing) will be considered sep...

The planning commission just approved everything. You (generic all of you) should contact the city councilmember in the area if you're opposed.

Re: City Walk Uptown - (1312 West Lake Street)

That's awesome. I'll get some pictures this weekend if I remember. It's crazy that just 18 months ago when I moved to Uptown (Lyn-Lake if you want to get technical), Flux, Mozaic, and Greenleaf were all under construction, none of them topped out even. As of right now, Track 29, Elan (Bennett East),...

Re: Burch Pharmacy Building - (1934 Hennepin Avenue)

The new billboard is also up. Welcome back Cotty.
I hope you're kidding...but I have a feeling you're not. Why is this billboard allowed to deface this building? Why would the restaurant want that crap next to their entrance?

Re: Bus Stop on 7th Street at Nicollet Mall

I went down and experienced the stop for myself at about 6pm tonight. There was a transit cop on the corner, but he was not strictly enforcing the rules, as there were a handful of people leaning against the building. However, I was able to "comfortably" walk from end to end of the designa...

This is just a comment on the Prosilver theme itself. For me, the most useful and important button on this whole site is "View Active Topics". Can that link be made available on every screen? I currently have to click on "Board Index" to get back to the main page before I can fin...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT)

Yes, and then build a bridge across the river connecting 38th Street and St. Clair Ave. I have often wondered why there was no such bridge. But when you really think about it, the traffic counts would be really low and not justify the cost (and destruction to the natural areas). I think we have the...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

Did anyone else catch this on Magellan's website? "1369 Spruce Place" I know, minor details, but it stuck out to me. Also, they refer to it as "Loring Park Apartment Tower" in their own press release, which makes it seem like the name is not final. Personally I'm hoping for somet...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT)

Should the proposed relocation of the 35th/36th street exit to 38th Street ever happen, do we think it should include a BRT station? Why or why not? I say yes, as 2 miles between Lake and 46th is too far. I like the idea of having the Orange line as the backbone, with crosstown bus routes on 66th, 4...

Re: 2700 University Ave

Anyone know if this is actually happening? That is such a prime location...it's hard to believe it has been vacant this long now. I agree it would be a shame to not have a little retail here, with the LRT station being right in front.

The original proposal included a potential grocery store, IIRC

There's a webcam of the action (3 actually) so I think I'm off the hook on my promised regular photo updates.

I have a strange desire to go hold up an UrbanMSP sign in front of one of the cameras.
