Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors
With ample opportunities to transfer to LRT or other BRT, ideally yeah I would want this hypothetical Cedar-Johnson route to skirt downtown. A northbound Cedar BRT rider wanting to go downtown could hop off and get on the Blue Line at Franklin (bit of a walk), or Green Line, H Line, or 22 at West ...

Re: Riverview Corridor B̶u̶s̶ S̶t̶r̶e̶e̶t̶c̶a̶r̶ Bus
MnDOT is interested in turning back West 7th to city or county ownership. It could be that just the portion east of 35E gets turned back or possibly the whole corridor from downtown all the way to the bridge.
Would this involve re-routing MN-5 onto Shepard Rd? This has always felt like such a ...

I went to the first public meeting tonight. Learned a couple things not apparent from the project website.
This project would actually replace MnDOT’s planned project which was just a “mill & overlay plus” and not a full reconstruction. That does lengthen the timeline by a few years but ...

What's interesting is closing and redeveloping HERC could be the shared interest that binds urban environmentalist progressives and rich sports team owners/Chamber of Commerce booster/Rybak-Frey types.
Yeah I agree that tying the arena approval to the closure of HERC might be the only way to ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Discussion
Without getting into the minutiae of MN liquor laws, it likely has to do with who holds the liquor license and whether that same entity also owns/operates the restaurant(s) directly. If the business entity owning/operating the food hall holds the liquor license but doesn't operate any of the ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Discussion
That could be a really great addition to downtown. I wonder what this bill would do, unless it's just to allow for a special liquor license.
State Rep. Katie Jones, DFL-Minneapolis, introduced a bill earlier this month that seeks to allow LaSalle Plaza to operate the food hall.

Re: Northern Lights Express
Possible, but not super likely. I don't think the votes are there in the Senate to give up on NLX, even if temporarily and as a part of a greater negotiation package. Even if this bill were to pass the house it's unlikely to pass the Senate and Governor's office even as part of a conference ...

Re: Riverview Corridor B̶u̶s̶ S̶t̶r̶e̶e̶t̶c̶a̶r̶ Bus
I just noticed that there are no Ramsey County logos on the presentation. I suspect Saint Paul & Metro Transit are going about this in a strategic manner to draw Ramsey County back in as a major funding partner. St. Paul of course has no money for any of this, aside from perhaps owning/maintaining ...

Re: Riverview Corridor Not Streetcar
Interesting that the reconfiguration of [494/34th Ave] to a DDI with LRT in the middle not only made LRT service less reliable than before, apparently it failed to create positive conditions for the 54 as well. IIRC, that was a MAC-funded project, but still...
