Re: Tunnels!
I think the downtown at-grade alignment is fine. Considering there's no long-term plan to add a third line to the 5th St corridor there isn't much need. I'd even be surprised if 7.5 min peak frequencies come back before the next decade. As for the cheap tunneling, I believe it was first considered i...

Thank you for sharing that. Good to see a timeline. Looks like about a year to figure out a new routing.

Re: Interstate 94
This study is taking a very long time to complete. Glad to see that the city is making some demands that will hopefully influence the project outcome. Much different than even a few years ago with the Crosstown Commons and 35W/Lake projects.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
That's a good question. I would imagine the two would just jointly run on the ~1 mile of shared routing. The reason I say that I think it will come back into discussion is that it was basically the runner-up to the rail corridor in the last EIS process. It would be a natural consideration. Additiona...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Not to bring up 3A/3C again (lol), I think that with respect to the Midtown Greenway/Nicollet alternative of the SWLRT, a lot of the stakeholders preferred the Kenilworth routing. I think having a tunnel on Broadway would be the most ideal choice, but I feel like it's likely that the Olson-Penn opti...

Looks like I spoke too soon about the 442X trips. They've been added back to the schedules, restoring Cedar Ave service to ten trips per hour.

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors
The Central map doesn't show any ridership at Northtown, but I would imagine it's in the low to mid hundreds per day. I can see a few reasons for sending the Central line to Northtown: - there's already a ridership base from NE to Northtown - leverage transit dollars for University project - reduce ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
If they do go with transit on Lyndale, I wonder if they will plan to move transit off of Grand as well, given that it's only three short blocks over (~4 min walk). That street is also going through a redesign right now.

Looks like Minneapolis is going to put forth the alternative to build a bikeway on Bryant and move buses over to Lyndale. Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
MVTA posted new schedules for the 442, 443, and 447. Looks like they dropped the 442X trips in favor of the Y trips that make the stop at Cedar Grove. Now there's only 7 buses per hour between MOA and AVTS on the 442, 442Y, and Red Line. https://www.mvta.com/news/mvta-launching-additional-local-serv...

Re: Rochester
They're actually planning a BRT line right now with a targeted opening in 2025. Will be interesting to see if they do "real BRT" with stations and lanes or just buses that are painted to look fast. Seems like something that's relatively uncommon for a city of that size. https://www.rochestermn.gov/d...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
I suppose I should have said that they should maintain a 38th St stop on Park/Portland or whatever detour route they're going to use. Or have a temporary stop at 38th/Chicago if the intersection reopens before the D Line starts service.
