Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

It wouldn't make much sense to go past N Memorial Hospital without stopping if it's on the way. Crime and shootings are going to be around, trains or no trains. It's just a fact of life. Green and Blue lines (and pretty much every other US city) have service disruptions stemming from criminal activi...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Unfortunately the last time I was in town I noticed that they've progressed quite well on reconstruction of the interchange, so it's probably not going anywhere.

Re: Phillips-East Phillips-Ventura Village General Topics

I lived in Phillips in the 90s when I was young and I never really got the Midtown thing. I always thought it was invented to side-step the crime stigma in the area. I guess with the Midtown Greenway, the Midtown Market and the Midtown light rail station, important landmarks have taken the name. It'...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Closing Cedar over Lake Nokomis is a good idea. It really only serves to degrade the park space.

South Minneapolis can use Portland, 28th, or 34th to drive to Hwy. 62.

Ah I was aware of the third track project, but didn't know it would serve the platform better. Thanks!

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder to Chicago

Foley would make sense for a suburban stop, especially if NLX comes to fruition.

I believe Metro Transit has had scheduling conflicts in the past at Fridley because it's adjacent to a big yard.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

One of the wish list items that came out of the 62/494 study a few years ago is a flyover from NB 77 to WB 62. I'd also imagine they want to do some widening of the Crosstown but that will be a challenge given the land constraints.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Hwy 77 (AV to 494) survey out: https://live.metroquestsurvey.com/?u=lz0g0t#!/?p=web&pm=dynamic&s=1&popup=WTD Three options under consideration right now: 1. Expand 2-lane sections to 3 lanes. Lowest cost, but moves traffic bottleneck north. 2. Add a lane to the whole corridor. Second lowest cost, bu...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

There seemed to be a push for a 169 BRT line in the past few years, but the idea of routing on 55 combined with a midpoint intersection with the Green Line and an end at a park and ride in Shakopee gives me little confidence that it will actually be brought forward. As for 55 BRT, I believe Metro Tr...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

MnDot has a long term plan to add a MnPass lane and re-do some of the interchanges. One going away is General Mills Blvd. This work was part of the transit study a few years ago, but the project would still need to be funded and go through detailed engineering and construction, so it's unlikely to h...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

But Lake Street is a destination itself with one of the busiest buses running on it. American Blvd. by comparison has car dealerships, Bed Bath & Beyond and a Red Lobster. I will be flabbergasted if American Blvd. has 3X the ridership. Well, people from the suburbs are going to be going to car deal...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

Sure, but Lake and Nicollet isn't really a major destination right now (given most of the shopping is closed) and a lot of the travel demand is coming from the Nicollet and Lake corridors not from downtown. Would you take Orange Line + 21 to Lake & Lyndale or Lake & Chicago from downtown or just tak...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

Lake Street is more likely to serve riders to/from the south suburbs. Taking the Orange Line from downtown and transferring to the 21 is less efficient than just taking one of the many north-south lines that cross Lake St.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Any word on when the 113 and 114 will be running? Are they typically only in service during the active semesters at the U? 113 and 114 are currently suspended and will begin running again with the start of classes at the U. Before the pandemic there was a reduced schedule that operated during break...
