It's good in the sense that Metro Transit doesn't have to pay for it! I hope that it works out well for SWT.
I would hope that a road diet is considered for American Blvd as well as reconnecting it to the grid to the south. Right now the layout is not conducive to transit riders.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I recall that an 8th St bus lane was proposed when the street was reconstructed a few years back but was removed from the design. With the Gold Line being added to 8th St, I'd hope that the city reconsiders that decision.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Westbound Route 9 buses will move from 9th St to 7th St in downtown Minneapolis. Riders will be able to more easily transfer to METRO C and D lines and other local routes. Bus lanes along 7th St will lead to more reliable travel time through downtown Minneapolis. Riders will have better waiting ...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
There would be a need for a turnaround track somewhere, but SW Station to Stadium Village would be nice and would allow for better service between Downtown and U of M.
Also allows the SW extension and the existing Green Line to operate on different frequency levels or consist lengths.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
To your point about Lyndale Ave, Metro Transit should really work with Mpls and St Paul (and the inner suburbs) to add stations of the same quality to any street with a regular bus line that is being reconstructed. There's something to be said for incrementally upgrading the entire system as other ...

I think that W 7th St is likely going to be the front runner for a lettered "BRT" line now that Riverview Streetcar is off the table.

The Purple Line is also in limbo at this time and they may be considering a letter bus line replacement.
Nicollet is a no-brainer.
For Brooklyn Park they should consider extending the C Line along Brooklyn Blvd to Starlite and extending the D Line to Shingle Creek Library or up to 69th Ave.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
There was also a Louisiana Ave bus route (#604) that existed before the pandemic that would have provided some local connections. The Network Now plan has that returning as a branch of the #9 bus, and will be the sole connection between the Green Line and the West End area.

Any thoughts here why that route fell through? Seems like there should be reasonably high demand for this service. A lot of people commute from Minneapolis to the SWT ...

Here's a few I found on the wayback machine:

The previous versions of the SW Transit reverse commute have all been similar to the 600. I believe 684 also served the U of M and had more trips.

Better bus routes improvements coming to the 7, including a reroute from 1st St N/3rd St S/4th St S to Washington Ave in Downtown and North Loop and reroute from 27th Ave S to 26th Ave S through Seward.

The return of the 223 is nice after being missing since like 2021.
Nice to see frequency improvements moving along. New high-frequency territory along the #17 through SLP is excellent!

27th is earmarked to become a parkway (which has been talked about forever). Perhaps a bike route on Essex then curving around to Huron would be sufficient.

The 94 is appx. 20-25 mins from Nicollet in Minneapolis to Robert in St. Paul - this is great news.
Putting the Gold Line on I-94 gives Metro Transit a bigger stake in the MnDot project as well. Hopefully some positives come out of that, like median stations at Riverside and Snelling.

Re: City Center
The loss of Macy's, Neiman's, Saks, Marshall's, and Nordstrom Rack in the last decade had a significant impact on the core stretch of Nicollet - luckily the presence of the corporate HQ has kept Target in place. Downtown is also down to 1 Walgreens and 0 CVS. I guess the DGX somewhat helps.

I see. I thought I'd seen something about the J, K, and L lines but it was funding without details (or perhaps unfunded but included in the 5 year budget).
EDIT: Just checked, the J, K, and L lines are in the transportation capital program on page 94. They seem to be a few years out, and are ...
