Re: I-35W/I-94 Commons
Couldn't the 35w northbound to 94 westbound split into two ramps-- one signed "I-94" and the other "I-394/Lyndale/Hennepin-- the I-94 through-traffic ramp merging into 94 from the left, and the local ramp feed into a divided merge area to the right of 94, where it would weave with peo...

Re: Capella Tower & LaSalle Plaza
I really like how they do it here in Chicago where they mostly coordinate things. They all go teal for awhile and you see "why teal?" ads around playing off of it, ect. It gives some cool variety without being a disgusting rainbow of a dozen different colors every night.

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
There are some well maintained stations around downtown... The Bobby & Steve's on Washington, The BP in the North Loop, the Mobile at 28th & Lyndale. Gas stations will always suck a bit, but they're not all created equal. They could definitely build a better one here if they wanted to.

What? BKV is headquartered in Minneapolis and has been since 1978.
Magellan and BKV Group are new comers to Mpls.

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
1. watershed 2. when putting more weight onto a property than what was there before the soil shifts. The entire neighborhood is a former swamp and doesnt have grades of rock, its a sponge. 3. air quality, add more cars, more people, plus with incinerators downtown more garbage is going to get burnt...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
I'm at little confused as to why you're focused so much on the average home value? I have to imagine that these units are valued significantly higher than equivalent units square footage/bedroom/access wise. I also seriously doubt that the taxes from this building won't cover the increased demand on...

Re: Park Vista (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)
Yes, usually middle income people are dependent on older buildings in good condition for high density housing. That's why places like NYC and SF have instituted rent control-- because the land values are so high that even older buildings would rise above most people's means. Obviously Minneapolis is...

Re: Park Vista (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)
I think it's worth noting that there aren't really any new construction middle income high-rises anywhere. If enough new ones go up, the older dated towers will be forced to drop a few hundred. Another thing to consider is that in cities that are a little more dense, you have neighborhoods with old ...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Sorry if I upset anyone-- I didn't mean it as a serious dig at Magellan. Yes, councilmembers in Chicago are called aldermen. Also, Chicago (and Illinois in general) has this weird fetish where a lot of public credit is given to politicians for their pet projects, something that has been very foreign...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Magellan certainly has a Chicago approach to politics. Calling out Goodman in the press release to thank her, and then screwing up to say alderman rather than councilmember. Are they trying to look dirty?

Re: Green Line (Central)
I'd be interested to see how Minneapolis's version of the charts on page 163 of that document would compare. Actually, looking at it more closely -- are those charts correct? Does San Diego really have five times the system ridership of Metro Transit? 400 million vs. 80 million? Wikipedia shows San...

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)
I believe that they were one of several developers competing for the project, which was given to Ryan. I don't really know anything else about it. I don't know anything about the scope or content of the contract other than that it was for an office tower with Target on this block. We could just be t...

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)
I had a conversation this weekend with a friend of mine who works for a major national developer/property management company that has strong holdings in the Twin Cities. He brought up that they had lost a major contract for this site. I didn't want to press him about height or a time frame, but it l...

Re: MSP Airport
^The looks like the mostly likely spot to me. Doesn't seem like a bad idea to build it, unless they use it as rationale to delay construction of a real hotel, which really needs to happen.
