Re: Target Field Station
Thanks for the info Nick, very interesting. The station and surrounding development is nice, just definitely not worth the price tag for what it is IMO. Also find it strange that an 80M transit project hangs what should be a 10k passage connecting a major trail on the city's budget. The only true be...

Re: Target Field Station
A good start if they want to compare to grand central station would be an enclosed shelter so you don't have to wait for a train in -20 degree temps.

Some kind of work going on here. Tarps hanging off the outside and windows opened up.

Re: Target Field Station
So far we have learned: A) they're leaving the old platform and it will sometimes be used B) they will still have to hire a dozen "human signs" to keep people from getting run over after games as you can still cross the tracks onto 5th C) there will no longer be an mtpd station D) there is...

Re: Target Field Station
Well for now it's the last station on the line, so temporarily there shouldn't be a need to cross any tracks as you could theoretically always drop off and board on the near side I believe? That's essentially what they've been doing at the existing station in the absence of tail tracks and a track s...

Re: Target Field Station
I can't imagine this platform will ever be used again, because its stupid design requires crossing the tracks to board trains. This has been a DISASTER during games, clogging the area outside of the Northstar circulation entry and requiring the hiring of two people just to keep people from getting r...

Re: Target Field Station
So maybe I missed this but walking by the other day made me wonder- what is going to happen to the existing target field LRT station and shelters? Are they coming out?

Re: Three24 - (324 First Street North)
There sure are a lot of cheap, boring, uninspired buildings going into the North Loop these days. This one is making me want to change my post on the shipping container building down the street to something more positive. I'll keep telling myself that the increase in residents is worth it...

Hadn't heard much on this one but just got an HPC notice that a certificate of appropriateness has been applied for. Interestingly, they call it the "Green DeLaittre Wholesale Grocery Warehouse". I like western container better. Didn't really expect anything to keep rolling since Swervo wa...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Let's look at the history of this space: 2 years ago: proposes modest development 1 year ago: 2 architecture firms later he finds out project will cost $$$ to put in foundation that will support the structure Now: comes back with a bunch of boxes I'm not going to waste my breath commenting on what I...

"My property tax assessment just went up 30%" Really?! Is that actually true? Sorry for off-topic but yes. Haven't gotten the new property tax statement but got the new assessment and it's up about that. Talked to the assessor and his response was that they were "playing catch-up&quo...

Re: Junction Flats - (643 Fifth Street North)
Thanks for the photo. I noticed the other day that the brick section facing the interchange was up and looked quite nice. Then I noticed another section go up facing the holiday station in a completely separate set of brick colors/tones. I'm tired of the brick mishmash constituting an interesting fa...

Honestly? My property tax assessment just went up 30% and these are matters that concern these clowns?

Re: Target Field Station (née The Interchange)
One would think that logic makes sense in a climate that saw nearly 60 consecutive days of negative temperatures. Pretty sure grand central station is warm inside.

Re: Target Field Station (née The Interchange)
Early renderings showed panels between the canopy slats, but looking closely the other day this appears not to be the case- also there are individual bus-like shelters under the canopy. So I guess the lighted canopy slats are essentially one really big and expensive piece of public art.

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Shinola exists in the Cass Corridor in Detroit and brings a very steady stream of young suburbanites downtown because it's unique and not available at every mall. If this concept fails in the North Loop it would be crushing for the idea that the area is capable of supporting high end independent ret...

Re: National Marrow Donor Program HQ - (524 Fifth Street Nor
Those are good points- if your employer suddenly tells you you're paying $150 a month now to park your car and they're not increasing your salary that sucks. I also would like to see more good lunch options on this side of town. It has become a good destination neighborhood for sit-down food but not...
