Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

Because it's large and complex - not nearly as small or simple as you're implying.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

I'd assume the K-mart site may have something to do with it, but I'd also assume the redevelopment potential of Central Avenue in Northeast was also a factor. Something down University-4th sure would make a lot of sense.

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

It's like our own version of Battersea Power Station. Maybe they should make it even more brutal, add some cannons, another smoke stack or two and razor wire.

Re: Pillsbury "A" Mill Redevelopment

Yes, there's been a lot of demolition to create quite the landfill down there. It's fun to see up close.

Here are a few photos of this one:

Re: The Penfield - (101 10th Street East)

I took quite a few of this. With how tight this building's neighbors are, this area will feel quite a bit denser. I like this part of town.

Re: Cancer and Cardiovascular Research Building

I really like the looks of this building, and all of the landscaping around this whole row of research buildings. Here are a few pics from today. It seems like it's taking a while for this to finish, but I assume the inside is pretty complex. http://tomabouttown.wordpress.com/2013/02/09/university-o...

Re: The Station on Washington - (630 Washington Avenue SE)

I took a few more of this today. Not quite Nick's excellent bird's-eye view. Washington looks a lot more intense with the big electrical poles that have gone up.

Re: House of Hanson Site (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE)

That sounds like a recipe for a crappy looking, really disjointed neighborhood. We can't bemoan the loss of every single old, neglected single family house still standing in the middle of a business district. And the House of Hanson building is hideous. As much as I enjoy using that parking lot, I w...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)

Another nice round of updates from my buddy's terrific vantage point. They're going to set up a time lapse for us, which could be pretty cool as this starts to rise.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

How is $2.25 expensive, especially with a transfer? And is the alternative walking or biking? I'm confused.

Re: Minneapolis Armory

I've heard the idea to locate the city's farmer's market there, but do you think would it have enough space inside? If so, that would be fantastic, and a great way to really transform the street life in this part of town. I can't imagine it would be that expensive to bring it up to speed for that us...

It would be fascinating to see how a generic building that size would look in that location.
Haha "hint hint" to those who can scale something like this ;)
I was trying to be classy about it.

Re: Dinkytown

I would think any developer would have a hard time rezoning this to all residential, and why would they want to? Anybody would include street-level retail on that site, given the neighborhood's growth.

Re: Green Line (Central)

I agree Mullen - in person, it seems like way too many stops along University, in some places like the whole line is just one big station. Along with that criticism, though, it's impressive the amount of urban variety seen along this line, from downtown MPLS, the surprisingly dense East Bank, all th...

I think the new design is great - exactly what I was hoping for, good connection to downtown and really fits the Minneapolis style.
