Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

I'll take anything mentioned in same sentence as the IDS, personally.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I'm curious to know more about the feasibility of an elevated bike path, a sort of causeway option. Isn't it Denmark where they've done this more extensively? When you don't need high weight capacities I could see this being a real option worthy of consideration. Of course, as evidenced by the Sabo ...

Re: Elan Phase II - (2828 Dupont Avenue South)

Ground has broken on Phase III, in case anyone was wondering. Phase II is currently digging out its eventual parking structure.

Re: Elan Phase II - (2828 Dupont Avenue South)

Incidentally, can anyone tell me if there will be access from the promenade to the Greenway for non-residents with this phase? I'm not sure if the promenade just passes over the walkout or if they're going to give non-residents a convenient access to the trail.

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

It's now visible from I-94 as well (East of the tunnel). It's going to be fun to watch this thing grow!

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

I agree it's a hulking mass at the moment, but I have a strong feeling we won't really notice that once there's a 360-ft glassy gibbous rising from it. Still curious to see the final cladding, though.

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

Does anyone know or have a way of finding out what this will look like from various parts of 94 as well? I love the Grant Park building's presence on the freeway and I bet this one will catch a lot of eyes!

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

Is there anyone with an elevated perspective that could upload a picture or two? I'm curious how the gibbous tower is going to rise out of the massive pedestal. Seems like it should have risen higher already, but the elevator shafts might be the hold up I'm guessing, as those have been popping up fo...

Re: Elan of Uptown Phase II

If they don't, it would seem (at least to me) that the Phase II building would be by far the most desirable for those who envision using the Greenway. And if you're living right on the Greenway, has to be a decent percent of the residents.

Re: Vikings Stadium

1 Million sq ft from Wells Fargo? Are we talking a skyscraper? I'm guessing not, but wow that's a lot. I used to work at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage - holy hell that place was overcrowded! Very exciting!

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

Lots of commotion and construction activity today. I noticed that the main spire is starting to stick out from the parking ramp pedestal! Maybe elevator shafts? I don't think it's full width for the structure, but I have a feeling we're going to see this thing rise up and quickly!

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)

Are there good reasons why this thing is going so much faster (by my estimation) than the LPM tower? Didn't this one start way, way later? Glad to see it's moving along nicely.

Is there any chance that Hyatt will get re-cladded ... or ... painted a different color or anything? It really is an eyesore.

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

I agree that a 1000 footer would be nice, but I doubt the few of us on this forum are going to beat the market forces. Mostly, I'm hopeful we may see one due to the market forces themselves. Also, RT Rybak made a point to specifically point out that he hoped to see a new Target Tower in the near fut...

If anything has MORE of an impact than the IDS Tower did in its day, I don't even know what that would look like. Maybe Burj Khaliffa. Not gonna see that.

Re: The Virginia Triangle (Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck)

Nevertheless, it's inconvenient, either in reality or in perception, to get from Uptown to Downtown as a pedestrian or a cyclist. It could be worse but this corridor could be much, much better.

Re: The Virginia Triangle (Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck)

Something that hasn't been directly addressed is the ridiculous task it is to cross basically anywhere in the whole Triangle area, on foot or on bike. The speed limit on this road ... 30 I think? ... but cars go basically as fast as possible when there's no one is front of them and crossing 8+ wide ...
