That ... is a great idea. Any freight delays expected along NLE routing I wonder?

If you read the report, there is a "restoration" option as well, which is essentially undoing what was done. Did you read the report?

Re: Interstate 94
A substantial portion of results from the recent MnDOT survey recently came out of places like Woodbury. I'm not sure the Our Streets (Minneapolis) has their hand on the scales of public comment like you seem to be implying. If anything, the conventional wisdom, "don't change anything" peo...

Although I agree that the additional pull-through lane isn't ideal, at least they're putting a patio/plaza thing facing the stadium on the other side. Something, anything, but surface parking though, please.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
Don't transit pundits say "put transit where there's density"?
Classic chicken and egg. Get the density first or get the transit service first.
Both at once is better.

Simple = good. I think this was a very good outcome for both flag and seal.

Re: Rochester
Unless the city has the gumption to diet Broadway downtown, those historic buildings will always be wasted. But to be clear, they definitely should not be torn down as the 3rd & Broadway node is probably among the highest potential for walkable destinations in the city. And there aren't many oth...

I just wish publicly-funded stadiums didn't feel free to gouge to the max on concessions prices. Either gouge and cover your own financing, or don't gouge and get handouts from the public.

The facility is still top-notch. I doubt they need to do much except maintenance.
The road network, sidewalks, and amenities around the stadium are where I would put my focus. It is damn near impossible to bike to the X, for one.

Doesn't the Pivot still have a large leasable commercial space at ground level? Honestly, that would be a pretty good spot for them to move.

A lot of off-topic conversation here. It's not a zero-sum game. Do all the above low-hanging fruit improvements AND make 94 less of a car sewer.

I can say from actual experience that when I-94 in the city is closed, it is actually really easy to route around it. My takeaway is that we have severely overbuilt urban freeways.

Re: Interstate 94
Just because MnDOT is showing "at-grade" to look like Hiawatha, doesn't mean that's the actual, good-faith best realistic scenario for the boulevard. Crossing distances would be a fraction of what they are now for bike/ped, and the roadway being narrowed would allow potentially hundreds of...

I'm genuinely curious: did they consider anything that had a "faux" historic design or that incorporated cues from the Archer House? Maybe that would have flopped as a design. Either way, this looks pretty good IMO.

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail
One nice thing about running the MSP-ROC rail next to/above traffic is that if it's above about 80MPH (as it should be) and in the shared Highway 52 corridor, the drivers would have to watch the trains pass them daily at much higher speeds. Those optics might help boost ridership for what at least ...

Obvious political motivations aside, I'm pretty surprised how much of these plans include tearing down existing structures instead of just adding more buildings on some of the many remaining surface lots.

Nice project. Rochester needs a ton more downtown residences so this will be leased up very quickly.
