Re: Sports
Prejudice is common enough among soccer fans that the "elite" supporter group for the aspiring Minnesota the m.l.s. franchise has anti racism, sexism and homophobia language in their mission statement. i really hope white male American soccer fans mimicking fascists is borne out of ignoran...

Re: Apartment Hunting General Discussion
You're not going to get any amenities for that money. My last apartment four years ago before the housing market went bonkers cost more than your price and it had none of your amenities.

I didn't get a shot of the hole (heh). It looked like excavation is done and concrete forms in place.

Re: "A Line" Snelling Avenue Arterial Bus
There were a couple instances of the bus I was on missing a light (St Clair was one, iirc) by a second or two. Partial priority might not be in place for the lights my bus was stuck behind but if it is in place it certainly isn't active. For giggles I purchased a ticket. The machine takes probably a...

The Key Tower observation deck is superior to the space needle. Check out the Fremont neighborhood for intriguing public art and the great view from Gas Works Park.

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)
I read the additional quarter cent ctib tax as replacing the new state lrt contribution. the state funding of existing light rail would be made up by the quarter cent met council tax. I could be wrong but it doesn't look like a cut to lrt. Cities wouldn't have control over the ctib tax. It would be ...

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)
I really hope the dfl doesn't mess up an opportunity for dedicated stable transit funding. This offer from the gop house is close to being a great win for transit riders, Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)
No worries. The bit about ctib tax being open to roads and bridges is concerning.

The first sentence of the ctib paragraph states an action of the board would authorize the tax.

This shows a ctib vote would authorize a quarter cent ctib tax.
The sales tax transfer from the general fund to transportation does stink.

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation
Equating product safety, consumer information and anti usury regulation to a bearded bro social media hobby horse is hogwash. Like unions not all business lobbies are the same. Police and fire fighter unions exist to excuse misconduct among their members and drain municipal finances with ludicrous w...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation
If your local liquor store is in saint Paul their hours are limited to 8pm except for Friday and Saturday People gotta step up their reading comprehension game. Yes, by all means, let's hold up allowing Sunday Sales statewide because of some stupid brewpub that no one outside of a 1 mile radius give...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation
Ever notice how other retail sectors are dominated by massive publicly traded corporations and large regional chains? I have and I don't like it. The ship sailed long ago on target being the place selling the most toilet paper in Minnesota. I do not think it's realistic to legislate the return of mo...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation
There is no inconsistency in maintaining Sunday sales. Booze is highly regulated - age of purchase and consumption, labeling, production, distribution, marketing, other aspects of sales, etc. Keeping Sunday sales is consistent with that high level of regulation. I'm interested in realistic progressi...

Re: Sunday Liquor Sales and other Beer/Liquor Legislation
Sunday sales has no chance of making through the Senate. Senate Majority Leader Bakk rightly represents the interests of small business owners and members of progressive unions over beer bros and "progressive" libertarians. The only effect attaching Sunday sales would be to bog down the en...
