Re: Longfellow Station
There's a new liquor store at 41st and Hiawatha. Would tj's wine shop have adequate spacing?

Re: ye-olde Ayd Mill
All road users would really benefit from a 4 to 3 lane conversion on Hamline. The pedestrian environment is horrible despite tremendous pedestrians draws - the college, shopping and transit. Turn lanes are of course absent resulting in sudden high speed lane shifts and stoped traffic in driving lanes.

Re: Schmidt Brewery Apartment Conversion
I'm sure there are a lot of infrequent posters (like me!) who greatly appreciate your Saint Paul updates, Spectre. Until recently I lived in Saint Paul so I'm, in many ways, more familiar with Merriam Park or Midway than I am Uptown. I think once the Green Line is up and running, development in Sain...

Re: Property Taxes
I pay attention to this stuff this best I can but the number of moving parts in city budgeting is so immense, staying on top of it is impossible. Based on my proposed 2013 property taxes, the recent development boom has paid small dividends. The city portion of taxes on my modest S Mpls home will in...

The only unfinished track sections in Saint Paul, aside from crossovers, are between Western and Marion and on Cedar between 10th and 7th.

The dfl take over at the Capitol makes this project a near certainty. Unless the president and the us house strike some budget deal that cuts federal transit capital funding.

Re: Downtown Crime
The issues of poverty go way beyond what the City of Minneapolis, MPS and foundations can do. Child poverty in America is at a staggering 23%. Canada and other peer nations, despite being less wealthy, has a much lower rate. The notion poverty relief has been adequately addressed is laughable. In th...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)
The platforms are usually no worse than Nicollet or the other busy stations. Replacing those anti explosive trash bins would help with litter. Shoving anything larger than a pack of smokes in there is difficult. The stairs are absolutely disgusting and need regular deep cleanings. For disgusting tra...

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)
Hopefully they respond to the demand and add legitimate showers to their restrooms. It's such a shame that all the bums end up having to use the sinks. Naw but f'real, I wish they'd get rid of the damn bench out front... It looks to me like the benches along Nicollet are coming out. They're gone an...

Re: Green Line (Central)
I love the new 16 routing. The residential area along marion gains service to west bound Green Line and downtown saint paul. The Saint Paul College area gets a west bound Green Line connection and the 16 will more than replace the lost 65 service to downtown Saint Paul.

The new LRT vehicle is sitting just inside the south maintenace doors at the Franklin storage and maintenace facility. The front changeable sign read Green Line an had a green square to the left of the text. Couldn't posibly snap a photo from my seat on a southbound blue line seat.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)
I live a very short distance from the line and have not seen a single car train in recent months. Weekend morning trains do get okay ridership so two car trains are needed as the morning progresses. It makes sense just to run two car trains rather than single cars that have to take on a train later....

I use transit. Lrt to work. Bus connections or walk from lrt for maybe half my non commute trips. My gal and I have one car. She drives to work and we use the car for heavy duty shopping, vising suburban friends and family, etc. I bike to work a few days a week during Fall, Winter and Spring - I don...

Re: Minneapolis Streetcar System
Agreed. We'll see if metro transit can stick to wide station spacing and proof of payment fare system on Snelling and West 7th. Personally I don't think rail in mixed traffic is a good idea. It will be slow, delay prone and costly.

Re: Minneapolis Streetcar System
Rapid bus is the way to go if improved mobility is the goal. Street cars are fancy but are no faster than rapid bus. Chicago, central and Nicollet rapid bus could be implemented for the cost of a duplicative starter street car.

Re: Arterial Transit Corridor Study ("rapid bus")
The Snelling corridor is the right place for rapid bus to debut. High profile connections to two rapid transit lines, relatively short and a few key congested intersections that could benefit from bus signal priority. There are also numerous intersecting regular bus lines along the route which would...

From what I saw the complaints were about lousy management, not other tenants. A well managed mixed income apartmen...
