Re: Nicollet Mall

I constantly hear negative reviews about 16th street from former Denver locals and from people who travel around. I don't think it's anything worth being jealous about. Just because it exists ideologically does not mean it's good. Do I wish there was smaller scale retail nicollet? Maybe, but Washing...

Re: 771 University Ave. (A Good New Home)

What's not subjective is deciding to make light of something that an American Indian group has been working very hard on, on a strict budget to bring the character and feel of their heritage into a building that young adults can build on their future and history all together into a productive space....

Re: 771 University Ave. (A Good New Home)

Oh, get over yourself. I'm not making fun of the American Indian source material. I'm making fun of a poorly executed, simplistic, and jokey interpretation of it. Poorly executed? I think this looks great. It also mentions in the article how they've been planning this for 7 years and are still look...

Re: 771 University Ave. (A Good New Home)

How sustainable of them that they were able to salvage the ground floor windows from an abandoned Pizza Hut!
How interesting to make fun of design choices that are supposed to be a reflection of American Indian heritage design and culture.

771 University Ave. (A Good New Home)

I just stumbled on this project while browsing F and C... I love it. Great cause, fun design. Can't wait.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

The DMNA LUC agenda next week includes: An 18-20 story, 350-unit apartment tower with 350 underground(!) parking stalls on Hennepin Avenue between Washington and 3rd. It's proposed by Harlem Irving, the developers of the the Link/Fresh Thyme in Prospect Park. Tushie Montgomery is the same architect...

That's pretty nice actually! Banal, but Decent proportions, cohesive design traits, nice looking materials and street front, and hidden parking. Color me surprised!

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC Plaza Jr.) - 30 stories - 458'

THE DEAL was.... We (the Representatives of The Citizens of Minneapolis), give you, the winners of the"proposal contest" development rights to this parcel- YOU (United Properties) give us an ICONIC BUILDING.... That has not been fulfilled. This is the corner of Washington and Hennepin Ave...

The building is a little boring now, but at least it's a little more uniform in look, not as confused.

Re: Gateway Tower (Four Seasons/RBC) - 43 stories - 513'

About 40 people from the four seasons have been staying at the hotel that I work at. I mentioned to a couple different guests that we were excited to have them as neighbors. All of them said that a hotel here is rumors only. That the media has promoted it but there's nothing official. So maybe it's ...

I'm definitely feeling the 3 towers though its almost like they're too spaced out.

I really hope they'd be three unique towers though, the currently approved tower is... Just alright. I'm not sure I like that white bread enough to make a sandwich out of it.

Re: Washington and Portland Mixed Use - 22 stories

Can't see a lot of detail there yet, but I like the layout of uses. the tower looks really nice proportionatey at 22 stories, which is nice, not too stocky or anything. really excited to see the south side of Washington almost completely spoken for!

Oh. Wow. That is stunning. Aecom ftw.

Sherman is ok, more of the same, but nice.

45 north has some cool concepts but seems to underutilize the space.

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

But if you only build transit in to areas of poor and less privileged people, you continue the myth that transit is only for poor people. Transit users continue to be the "other" for people with more power and it continues to be marginalized. Ok then just build it for people who won't use...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

what about data showing density of population based on transit need? This route could be the densest. I actually kind of find it annoying that transit funding can be decided by sheer quantities of people. Most real dense areas of Minneapolis are fairly well off and wouldn't necessarily rely on trans...

Yeah I'm not seeing it either. The reason the pre cast is nice on 4 marq was because it is faceted, has a lot of depth and creates interest. This looks very 1 dimensional, but i guess it's not cement board...

Rumor Mill: H and B galleries (2730 Hennepin) is shopping for a new home (potentially a Manson near the mia) which would mean a sizable lot for redevelopment. In the past I've been told that only Walgreens ever offered them enough money to consider moving, and they wouldn't sell to them and they alr...
