Re: 1301 W Lake St - LOCAL Ventures - 14 stories / 160'

It's less scale and more that massing with no design interest, for me. it's just kind of an ugly brick and doesn't further the funky neighborhood character at all. They could easily get away with some... interesting color, texture, shape...

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station

Honestly, looks really nice, a little small, but needed housing. I wish it had at least one retail space.

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor Development & MinHi Line

Even has a table/window eating area looking at the LRT station for quick stops-and-goes. But I'd be money that after the first two grab-and-gos, that door gets locked up for security I know the Holiday in North Loop has a door like this. Does anyone know if its ever locked? IIRC its been open the c...

I'm not disappointed -- that design was a terrible addition to a handsome building.
This.

Re: 17 North Washington - CA Ventures - 27 stories - ~300'(?)

I get that a lot of architecture fans seem to be interested in that building, but I'll be very happy to see it go. It's street-presence is so deadening and terrible, with the tuck under surrounded by shrubbery. Realistically it would be very easy to make the street presence better. (And not be pain...

Cool! I guess that's covered then! Some sort of convenience store or small target is much needed. When I worked at the hewing and guests needed a convenience store/pharmacy the closest were on nicollet or across the river in ne. Sooooo this is much needed!

Re: Duffey 2.0 - 3rd St N

The North Loop has been looking for a pharmacy. My bet is it's something with a pharmacy, do the urban format targets and cubs have room for that? Otherwise my bet is on Walgreens or cvs

Re: Duffy Paper Development by Cedar Street Cos

I was also confused by the lack of anything on the roof of the new construction... even a green roof or grill area would be appreciated by the residents I'd think.

Duffy Paper Development by Cedar Street Cos

The Development Tracker reports on plans for 2 of the Duffy Paper buildings as well as an apartment lined ramp for the surface lot. Tons of retail, tons of interesting amenities, good looking buildings, not a crazy amount of parking. I like it. Thought it deserved its own thread. https://www.tdtmpls...

Re: Dinky "tower" - McDonalds redevelopment

A significantly better looking project. The scale is humane, the materials of decent quality, pedestrian spaces and lots of retail. I'm very glad that previous monstrosity (and I'm a fan of brutalism 😂) is a thing of the past.

Does this include Marvel Bar? From the announcement it sounded like it might.
All of their food and beverage outlets. Marvel and the cafe as well.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

I knew a few people who worked there one of my friends said "they told us a little... i guess unbeknownst to us they had been struggling to keep up even before the pandemic hit. now they say there’s just no way they could afford to reopen and stuff since everything will be different for a long time ...

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development

I like the look of the buildings and the scale, here's hoping they are on board to build active street fronts as they pitched when proposing the stadium. They look pretty questionable in the current drawings.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

Yeah there's definitely a lot of work to be done in ensuring it's not a car funnel. I would suggest 28th to 32nd be vastly calmed and made into a semi self sufficient little urban node of its own. The area se of this is a major car playground.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

Potentially making local traffic drive half a mile around their destination for a 1 block calmed pedestrian area? Who said one block? I'm eyeing at least 28th to Lake. But who are "people?" Because there are people on buses (eventually streetcar?), bikes and foot too. Especially local traffic. But ...

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

I don't think it's a great idea to close the street to automobiles. I'm a big fan of having as many open free streets for all modes as possible. I'm trying to imagine the congestion on blaisdell and 1st, and overly convoluted routes around the area if this would be. It would be a disservice to pede...

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station

I'd imagine it's because it's about to have a light rail stop, it's very close to north loop, has the farmers market and is literally nothing but potential.
